Is there any software to upgrade the USB ports?

It's for my laptop, before I formatted it and reinstalled windows i have USB 2.0 but now after i installed everything back like it was, the usb isn't 2.0 but 1.0 (I think, i'm not sure about that.)

Is there any possible way to upgrade them?

    thx in advance

Not sure if there is software for such things, but on my old pc, I bought a USB 2.0 card and fitted that into the PCMCIA slot. (help on how to install)

    That's not possible.

There are USB 1.0 and 2.0 devices and they are automatically detected as such. 2.0 can be degraded to 1.0 but it doesn't happen unless something is going slower or incompatible. Connect something newer up to your USB, like a Flash Drive you know is 2.0 and then check the device properties.

why would you think its 1.0?
if they dont detect it, are you sure the drivers are installed correctly? if you cant find any drivers, update windows to service pack 2 if you havent already, they detect the devices automaticly

try checking, my computer > right mouseclick > manage > device list

are there any yellow signs? if so that device isnt installed correctly

yep the drivers are pretty much universal and from ym understanding at the driver level, USB is USB it's pretty much universal. I could be wrong though. That said 98 and up seem to have decent USB support as far as stock drivers go.

According to your provided information, I assume that your USB port is USB 2.0 at the moment but after the reformat, it became USB 1.0? I think it's related to a windows update, like what ravr said. I doubt is anything related to hardware since it was running at USB 2.0 previously. You have to check if your devices and ports are installed correctly. USB 1.0 devices cannot run at the speed of USB 2.0 but USB 2.0 devices may run at USB 1.0 speed even if the port is USB 2.0 because the maximum speed of the device is USB 1.0.
