Why does my monitor get brighter when i move my Aim buddy list to right, and get darker when I move it toward the middle..?

areyou moving your head? if you're using a cheap LCD screen with a TN panel then viewing angles are garbage...

If you are sure it's the program, does it do it with other progs? Sounds strange

might just be the cathode tube burning out. it happens.

I'm guessing that when you have a bright object that stuff around ti gets darker right?

could also be your vision, things do seem comparatively darker when near bright things. not sure on that and quite frankly everything I've said has been guesses

It depends on how extreme the contrast between bright and dark is. If it's a minor contrast, perhaps it's due to the lighting of your environment. However, if it's a strong contrast, it may be due to the monitor itself. Then again, if it's really the monitor that's faulty, you should not rule this out even if it's a slight contrast.
Try adjusting the lights around your workspace and see if the problem has any changes. If you still experience the lighter/darker contrast on the screen, I suggest you get it fixed/replaced unless you're comfortable with the contrast as it is.

I'm speaking from a computer engineering student's point of view. xD
