So I just finished my first signature, here it goes, I realized after it was done I should have changed the font and not used blue but oh well, you have to learn somehow.

Try and make the text a color similar to in the tag. You'll get there eventually, it takes a while to learn all the different techniques. If you want to, look at some of my psd's in my resources.

Work on the colors (border, text)

text needs a lot of work, the focal is too much to the side. Work on the placement of things and the size. There's just too much negative space.

doesn't look too bad for for a 1st sig. P)

Wow, impressive as a first, when I think back. ;)
Remove the red border, it looks ugly. ^^

Go and read some tutorials, they are always nice as for a start.

    Good Start :D.

I'll just give you some pointers.

    1. Never set boarders as overlay. Ever :P.
    2. Don't use downloaded brushes because you'll get into the habbit of it which is not good.
    3. Text, you need one that compliments the rest of the tag. You've got a blue tag and red text which imo clashes.
    4. Don't use outer glow on text.
    5. Try and keep your render/stock into the middle to reduce negative space. If you have it to the side it means you have to fill all that space.
    6. Unless it looks really cool only have your name.
    7. Subtitles are ok sometimes but mostly not.
    8. Never put your name in the corner unless you have to.

Just thought I'd give you some pointers :). This is constructive to help you in the future so please don't take this to harshly.
Also, you may want to read up on the tutuorials in Graphics Tutorials Section to get some more skills but don't follow them exactly.
PM me if you would like some suggestions on some tutorials to use and if you get stuck on them :).
Good Luck and Good Try :D.

Hmm I dont know if I agree personally

I have found times when overlay works just fine, now what you might want to do is duplicate the signature and add a few more borders and fade them to the original layer till you get what you like, but overlay isn't a bad border

I agree downloaded brushes are a bad habit but, making brushes can be hard =P so dont feel too bad for using downloaded brushes IMO
Besides people who put brushes on the internet WANT you to use them

I think next time you should try and pick complimentary colors it will really bring out the life in your signature, also blend blend blend ;]
The text should be simple and easy to read ideally

Its a great first attempt though keep it up!

I understand Showtime but I have never downloaded a brush pack and I've been fine...
It was just my opinion and what I think he should do.
