I'm thining of upgrading my GFX card. I've read most of the topics that are currently about GFX cards and think I might go from my current 6800 GTS to a 8800 GTS 512, I've seen on on amazon for about £150 ($300)

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Nvidia-8800GTS...6373&sr=8-4

Is that a good deal and also is it worth me upgrading?. I want the card to play crysis on full and do photoshop stuff etc....

also if possible do you know how much a 6800 GTS second hand would sell for (its pure nvidia) ? I thought about £50ish? ($100)

    thanks

That card in US is about $309.00 right now. I would just get a 8800GT for less money. The GT has more stream processors I believe.

6800GT is worth about $40-60ish now, closer to $40. There is no such thing as a 6800GTS from what I know, or atleast not on the retail channel, it might have been an OEM part but that's about it.

and a 8800GTS will play crysis reasonably well on high/vhigh with some medium(maybe shadows I can't really tell between med and vhigh with shadows anyway) at 720p or perhaps a bit higher. can play fairly well at 1680*1050 on mostly high.

    actually it's closer to $200 than $300.

the old and discontinued 8800GTS 640mb has 96 SPs and a 320bit memory interface but somewhat slower memory. The new 8800GTS has 128SPs a 256bit memory interface and somewhat faster RAM. The 8800GT is basically an 8800GTS but with only 112SPs and RAM about as fast as the GTS640.

the 8800GTS 512 is basically the fastest card on the market right now, at least worth buying(the 8800GTX and 8800ultra are around 5% faster at higher resolutions but they cost $400-500 and are not worth it when the 8800GTS515 is only around $220-240)
