So I'd like to get into coding templates. I know Java/C/C++ so actually learning the code I can do fine. I searched for it here and found a few good links for syntax. However I can't seem to wrap my mind around bridging the template with the code. I'm a very visual learner so if anyone knows of a tutorial that walks you from the template through coding the template I'd be very grateful. Doesn't have to be anything complex, just a simple template example would do.

    Thanks in advance.

Well If you don't mind not actually knowing the coding, and you don't mind html instead of php then you can try N|vu out(it's free! ^_^).But if you do mind it being in html but still don't mind actually knowing the coding then I'd recommend buying Dreamweaver.

Yeah some people do, it's just I know you could be like a freelance web designer just using Dreamweaver, or if you just wanted to get your site up and running by yourself it's not a bad idea to just use a program.

I didn't say you had to use Dreamweaver for that, there are plenty of other nice free coding programs out there(none as nice as Dreamweaver but if it's your site you know your gunna take care of it).

So you've tried them before?I thought you said you would never waste your money on one.Now is really a better time then any to learn since I would think you would wanna be able to code ASAP.He was just giving a suggestion like me, if you don't want those type of suggestions then you could say so, seems to me though that your so good at coding you don't really care for the help(which honestly those programs where invented to make your life easier when it comes to coding not harder, all you gotta learn are the basics of the program).

yah ive used it, never bought it, it was at a college i visited and i messed around with it, its all around more reliable to hand code, and to learn that, according to you, you already generaly have an understanding, but you could always get a tutor over in the offers & Requests section, there are some really good tutors over there.

Lol, I just noticed your not even the guy who requested this, you weren't making any sense to me hehe(when I thought you were him).I get it now, though I'm sure learning to create the code is more time consuming, I just think of this place as kind of general place to go to learn new skills quickly. If you really wanted to learn a lot about something it would probably make more sense to go to school for it no?

So in light of him maybe wanting to get into it faster I would suggest a program, I've used them quite a bit and they worked out pretty well for me(even though they may add a bit of unnecessary code sometimes it never actually seems to screw up your code). Also just like learning from a psd can help a photoshop user, I would think looking at how dreamweaver(or another coding program) codes things could help someone who is new to it too.

I appreciate all the feedback. However since I am a coder myself I don't like using programs like Dreamweaver. Too much information is cut from them. I prefer to hand code whenever possible. I'll give some of these sites a try and let you know how it works out :)
