I wasn't sure where to put this so if it's in the wrong section I apologize in advance.

I'm trying to tune up my skills with logo making. I spent about 45 minutes on this one just trying different things.

Eh.. iunno. Seems very simple for my taste. Try to add some thing that aren't just in custom shapes.

    Here is another one

Still learning, I've made a few more but this is more customized.

    If you can't see your logo on a 10px x 10px canvas.
It fails at being a logo.

If you can stand very far from the logo and see it clearly.
It succeeds at being a logo.

Logos aren't just there to look pretty. You can have the best looking logo EVER!
if it doesn't work, then you have what people on this forum call, an "epic fail".

    for example,
That blue cheese logo on a blue background fails big time. You can't see the logo itself or black type.
The orange logo works on white. But the logo is ugly.

It is the balance between function and design that you want.

Once you've realised this. You can start learning how to make logos.

When I made those two, I didn't follow any tutorials at all. I had just downloaded a bunch of shapes and was playing around with different settings. The Blue Cheese logo started out as a circle and after deleting a bunch of things, that's what the final product was.

If you point me in the right direction I'll check out your tutorials.
