http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishli...Number=10569167 I'm basicly getting ready to buy a new computer within the next month and I'm looking for someone to look over what I have so far to make sure I havent missed any compatiblity issuse ect. Also taking suggestions as far as parts go. Thanks! Buget is 3,500 USD.
why not get the Q6600 CPU instead of the E8400 its even $5 cheaper than the e8400 and it will work with your mobo that you picked
I just really haven't been all that interested in getting a quad core processor, so I never even bothered to look at it, I will now that you've brought it up though. Edit: Updated the list with the processor and heatsinks.
mother board doesn't support SLi FYI. it doesn't have enough PCI-e lanes. nVidia is a horrible horrible evil company and they RESTRICT sli to only their chipsets at the driver level as well, so an intel chipset like x48 which supports SLI at the ahrdware level doesn't at the software level. basically go for any nForce 790 board if you insist on SLi as far as heatsinks go, you only need one. and since your budget is so high why not bother with a somewhat higher end heatsink? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835887011
because virtually nothing fully utilizes 2 cores yet alone 4 and because per clock the 8400 is around 7% faster and it hits 4Ghz relatively easily. basically it's a choice of 20% faster single thread and dual thread performance or up to 66% faster multi threaded performance. I personally prefer the former.
Thanks for the advice, the 2 heatsinks was a mistake, anyway updated the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and monitor. Any comments on that motherboard and RAM, I have always loved GeIL but I'm also open for suggestions. Edit: I'm also looking for suggestions on a case, I need one with a decent amount of room, airflow and preferably a clear side.
I would not suggest getting two 9800GX2's unless you have an extremely large monitor. (think the resolution of 2560x1600) Otherwise, you'd be fit with just 1 9800GX2. Think somewhere along the lines of a Dell 30inch. That's really the only reason to get two 9800GX2's. If you stick with the 22inch monitor you picked out, you'd be better off getting an 8800GTS 512mb. It'll run 1680x1050 just fine, and you'll save about a thousand bucks. As for the power supply, I've had bad luck with Antec, they don't have the best reputation for making the best power supplies. You may want to consider a different brand.
Thanks, I have been considering a 30"+ monitor but after the computer it would be a while, so I suppose you're right. As to the power supply, have and suggestions?
if you don't mind bothering with a rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139006 it's a fairly good deal, would power just about anything and everything you could think of.
Corsair is a good power supply company... I personally have a Zalman Heat pipe one, and it's very nice. As for case - They're all basically going to do the same thing for you. Neither one of them really separates itself from the others, in terms of cooling and such. I'd say get whatever case you think looks the coolest. I always thought the Zalman Case looked awesome. I personally have an NZXT Trinity. It's a good, solid case. Other things from NZXT are good solid products.
