    Because it was

Explain, if ten user sign on the forum, and 2 people out of the ten buy credits, can the other eight user afford the item? Or did you think when I said new user in the first quote I was referring to all new user, when in fact I was referring to a percentage of them.

Did I say it was their job?

The fact that information about the bank is still on the first page of the 'Latest News' shows that there isn't that much to read/get through. If a new user uses their initiative, they'd read the topic, find out how to access their bank account, and be done with it. They'd also notice that after a certain amount of time, the majority of all of the topics in the 'Latest News' section are closed. Does that mean the downtimes never happened? Does that mean the new mods being congratulated on their promotions are now de-modded?

Thinking that lock = not being used anymore is a very weak point. The announcements are locked...The rules are locked. See?

    These are closed right?

No they don't, their "supposed" but they don't

AG Alx said "If the member selling the credits realises that the member they are trading with is new, they could use instinct and warn them about using the bank to keep them safe."

As you said It's practically a free-for-all, if you don't know about the bank thats your fault not mine right?

Side note, every time I put the last one in quote it messed up all the quotes

    How mature.

Didn't make that very clear, did we? Oh wait. We didn't make that clear at all.

They were application topics. They're closed, because we have had the applicants.

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between applications and actual news...And just because they're closed, doesn't mean you can't read them still?...

...Yes. Yes, they do. Or, at least, the ones I've seen have been closed.

It is a free-for-all, yeah. I was just saying that some members may warn the new member, just in case they didn't know. It's known as 'kindness'.

Now, can you please stop arguing? Your retorts are now becoming repetitive and going along the 'I'm right you're wrong' route. I don't want to argue with you, as you're trying to do good in the community. I've bought it up in staff, and Dem has already said that the item won't be removed yet. I understand where you're coming from .c1, and I'm pleased that you're trying so hard to help all the new members...But you've done all you can do. Thank you. =]

    what

you said it was a weak point, I just listed three threads, on stuff that are closed and the thread is locked

    Examples?

We saw a lot of 'kindness' October 10th right

If you wanted to stop arguing then why post again, you keep responding and I will do the same.

Side note Another reason I keep on posting is that this will attract a lot of attention, members will read the topic. Thats another way of warning the members about the item and telling them about the bank. It's the same thing I did for the steam and rapidshare scams.

I have added a link to the bank to the marketplace rules, as requested. Hopefully this should alert members, as they should all read the marketplace rules before trading etc.

^ thank you, my point exactly.

Just add a warning to the welcome pm, then its no longer the sites fault because there were measures in place to protect new members.

I appear to have missed all the arguments about the credit steal item when it was first introduced but i'll give my opinion of it.

Credits may seem like simple numbers on a screen but they can be worth a lot to people. Let me put it this way: think of credits as being similar to 'gold' or similar currency used in online RPGs such as World of Warcraft. Users on RPGs gain 'gold' by performing tasks such as defeating other characters or completing quests. GR credits can be gained by making posts on the forum.

Like GR credits, obtaining lots of gold generally isn't important in completing or becoming good at the RPG. If you simply play the game for a long time you'll eventually get to the highest level and gain the best items. Similary credits aren't important in becoming an established member on GameRenders, if you post a lot and improve your gfx ability you'll become a well known member on the forum.

However if you've spent a long time on an RPG getting to the highest level and managing to get a lot of gold, if someone is simply able to take it away from you without your permission then most people would obviously be annoyed. Yes, the amount of gold you have is simply demonstrated by a number on your screen but it actually has a value, just the same as the numbers on a bank statement. Along with this fact, credits have been known to be worth money or exchangable for other useful item so I would think it would be unfair to take away something that has monetary value.

So in conclusion, while other people might be annoyed by 'credit whores' etc, credits don't play a vital part on the forum and becoming an established member does not require credits so I don't see why it should affect them (especially since most credit transactions/discussion is kept to one forum, the markeplace), and having the ability to have credits stolen from your account will result in people losing credits that they have earnt and which they can sell for money or useful intangible items.

Finally, this is just my opinion, and i'm not saying the introduction of the credit steal item was wrong but it was just something that I wouldn't have introduced myself. The current GR staff may of course have other valid reasons why the item was introduced.

A warning PM upon a user joining the forum (as has been mentioned), and an easily visible link at the top to get to the bank would solve this arguement, and everyone would be happy... Why the mods/admin are busy argueing their points rather than taking a valid, useful suggestion and implementing it, I'll never know..

    I'm stating it again.

if you're not a jerk you have nothing to fear. don't make anyone mad.

if you use the bank you have nothing to fear.

and I'll say this, the way the item was introduced was wrong. I was expecting it to be released with a 500 cred max, for it to cost 100-200 creds itself and for it to be of incredibly limited quantities.
    it wasn't.

here's an idea, how about we take the path down the middle and reduce the impact of the item.

why would you use the credit steal item if you know that the use of the item results in one breaking even in the long run and that the

there is a 33% chance that you'll be fined DOUBLE the amount you try to steal.

    .66* 1 = .66
    .33* -2 = -.66

.66 + -(.66) = 0, on average there is no net gain from stealing

except it costs money to buy the item, so overall theives LOOSE.
