I never understood what some words like "ipb", "vb", "mods" and "coding" mean... Could someone explain how this whole "coding" thing works?
I'm curious because I've seen people paying like 5000 credits to someone that "codes" their "vb" lol
Ah, I have no idea what those things are because I'm brazilian ok, so english is not my first language =P

People can just install mods for those who need, sometimes I doesn't require quoting experience.

Coding on this site is referencing XHTML/CSS must of the time, sometimes PHP

Coding when used for IPB and vB, means coding a forum design into IPB and vB

IPB and VB are different forum softwares.
IPB is Invision Power Board, which is the software that GameRenders uses.
vB is vBulletin, which is a different(and more popular) software.
Mods are modifications to existing code, so changing other people's code to give it different functionality.
Coding itself is like .c1 said, html, css, xhtml, php, mysql, so that people can make their own websites

So if I have a portfolio design for example, and ask someone to "code" it for me, what he/she is gonna do is basically host it on the internet?

They will code it up XHTML and CSS, but for it to be on the web you need to buy hosting

And what XHTML and CSS would be?
Is there any free hosting? If not, what are the usual prices and how long it lasts?

There is free hosting, it's not all very good but paid hosting can cost anywhere from 3 USD to 100 USD a month.

If you're going to pay a host I recommend Site5

As far as free hosts go I recommend 247ihost but Fizwig is ok.

HTML. XML, XHTML, CSS, ect. are just different coding languages.
