ive defraged my computer and i hav an unmovable file right near the end and whenever i defrag my computer the new files jus pile up at the end... i dont know what the files name is either... what do i do without having to reformat my computer!!! :censored: (fragmented files are counterstrike) :censored:
lol they're probably read-only system files that are staying in the directories for protection. no need for reformating... I destroyed a joke but whateva
Now why did you reformat before going to firingsquad they could have helped you out more there. Not to insult the great people of gamerenders but they have really tech, computer savy people there.
those *unmovable* files are, to best extent of my knowledge, the files windows needs to run containing such delights as your registry, if u were to put that anywhere else you wouldn't be able to boot your computer. Why? Because the end of the drive where your files are happens to be the first few sectors of memory on your hard drive, which incidentaly are the first to be read when powering up so if windows isn't there, it doesn't load. I may be wrong but thats what I think is the explanation for your "problem"
All of you guy are WRONG the "unmovable" files are the files that are currently in use SO close as much things as possible before running defrag. And funhai, your prolly talking about the MBR(master boot record) The master boot record can't be moved with defrag. Why? cuz windows can't access the mbr
isn't windows a program? and doesn't programs use files to run them? [sarcasm=3]yeah just close windows and then run the defrag,,, [/sarcasm]
There are a number of possibilitys my friend it could be virus man folder a fed up program a worm it could be a number of thigns all you need to worry about though is if its affecting your computer or not.
isn't windows a program? and doesn't programs use files to run them? [sarcasm=3]yeah just close windows and then run the defrag,,, [/sarcasm] [/b][/quote] Indeed windows is a program BUT the mbr isn't a file which windows needs to run. in fact the mbr isn't a file, it's the first sectors of the hard disk drive which are storing boot information. And you can't run defrag if you're not on windows (Well perhaps you can with ms-dos but I don't even wanna try and there is no ms-dos on windows xp)
lmao don't defrag on dos!Well if you had a 50mb drive I assume you had a sucky processor and crappy ram...
