Hey guys, Can someone tell me how to change my IP Address? Using Time Warner Cable's Road Runner service Linksys Wireless Router and Windows XP. If you need anymore information to be able to help me just post :lol: -Thanks!
Well there are quite a few different ways, not all of them work for everyone though. First you can try going to Start > Run. Type "cmd"(no quotes). When the dialog box pops up type "ipconfig /release"(no quotes) and hit Enter. Now type "ipconfig /renew"(no quotes) and hit Enter. If that didn't work, you can also try to unplug your router and leave it off for about 5-10 minutes. I haven't used a Linksys router so I am not sure if it will work for you. If neither one worked, you may have to go into the router's admin cp. It is usually at 192.168.1.1(type that into the address bar of your browser) but can vary. Once you are in, you need to release the IP. After that unplug your router and turn off your computer. Plug it back in and reboot. Those are the only ways I have ever really needed to use. Or you have to use a proxy server. That would work, too. If you have firefox (wanting to use another IP Adress via it) I think there was an add on for it. Something like this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2464 would probably work.
