So my beloved Etymotic ER-6i headphones crapped out on my today for the third time in the past year and half. I need new headphones. The Ety's have the best quality I've ever heard, but they're poorly made. So I need new headphones. My price range is $0-$200. I'm a huge audiophile, so they have to sound great. I've been looking at these Shure E4c headphones, but I would rather not spend that much dough. They have to be: 1) Durable. 2) High-Fi. 3) Earbuds. 4) Under $200.
well, i use JVC's marshmallow earbuds, they're rather comfortable with great sound reproduction. also, their cord has stood up to numerous yanks.
BOSE FTW! Best sounds quality ever. http://www.bose.com/controller?event=view_...eadphones_index Newegg Linky
V-Moda Vibe EarBuds Best pair of headphones I have ever purchased, it takes about 10 hour's of playing time to "brake them in" after witch time you get the best sound and comfort out of any ear buds on the market today(my opinion). I actually owned a pair of the Bose ear buds posted above, my friend let me borrow his pair of Vibe EarBuds after I forgot my headset at home, I fell in love and went out the same day to pick these baby's up.
I had E2Cs a year ago, and was unhappy with their fit. The earpieces were quite large and ugly. I tried some Etymotic ER-6i earphones for a while. I was impressed by their isolation and decent sound quality, but was unimpressed by the thin cord and sound that was not quite up to par of the Shure models. These days I just got Shure SE210, it's a deal price of $127 http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?...1155&ru=290 It's my best headphone purchases in a while. I can still use triple flange eartips for the best isolation. Sound is well balanced and the earpieces are comfortable.
I have to agree with this. The onear Bose headphones feel like clouds to your ears. I personally use Skullcandy headphones, because they're VERY affordable, and they sound great. I have buds, and they cost me around 15 dollars. http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/headphones-c-42.html
Finally some audiophiles... I'll read up on those. Etymotic's going to fix my ER-6is so I'm going to wait until summer for a new pair. I'm looking a LOT at Shure. Any advice?
^_^ http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/smokinbuds-...da630dbf855415c Those are the ones I have. There great. They block sound well and are a good set for my lifestyle.
Are these durable? I seem to go through headphones like no one's business and it's costing me an arm and a leg. So I need something that'll hold up for more than just 2-3 months.
I'm a huge audiophile so even though I posted my personal preference above I'm going to go ahead and post the full review I wrote for these puppies. (Orgianlly posted on neowin.net) Product: V-Moda Vibe Ear Buds Color: Gunmetal Black Price: $90.00 Background: I was looking for a pair of new ear buds to replace the stock Apple headphones for my Ipod Touch. I purchased a pair of the Apple in-ear ear buds but was highly disappointed with the results and looked else ware. After posting here on Neowin and reading numerous reviews of Bose, Shure, Sony ect… I settled on the V-moda Vibes. Packaging: I don’t have my package box with me at the current time but here is a stock photo of what it looks like. Included in the box are the ear buds, 6 extra pair of silicone heads, V-Moda Wrap, and a carrying bag. There are a total of 8 silicone heads that come with the ear buds two are on the ear buds and 6 extra, 4 black and 4 white. They come in sizes S,M,L. The wrap is a V shaped piece of silicone that you can use to wrap your headphone around for storing in the carrying bag. All together it makes for a nice extra set of contents and may sway some if the price is the same when comparing different ear buds. Build Quality: The ear buds are built with metal and feel very well built. They are light but that does not distract from the overall solid feel of the ear buds. The cord is much like any other cord for ear buds but can transmit noise to the ear buds if rubbed with the ear buds placed in the ear. The connector to the device of your choosing is a straight connector. I would have preferred an L shaped connector. Comfort: The ear buds feel great in the ear. It will take sometime to get used to the feeling of it seated correctly in the inner ear for those not accustomed but they are very light and do not feel as if they are dragging your ears down. The silicone heads are very soft and make a solid seal in the inner ear canal and wont discomfort the user unless they have very sensitive ears. I have worn the ear buds for spans of up to three hours straight while skiing and did not have any problems with discomfort nor having them fall out of my ear. Once placed in the ear with the correct silicone head the ear buds will not fall out. Sound Quality: In short, they sound great! I used an Ipod Touch for the past two weeks to listen to the Vibe’s. It should be noted that there is about a 10 hour break in period until the Vibe’s get to their prime sound reproduction. After the initial break-in the sound is full and complete. The bass is solid but not overwhelming. If your looking for ear bud’s to have massive subwoofer like bass then these are not for you. The Vibe’s have great range including excellent mid’s and highs. The bass is full enough to not leave you disappointed and complements the overall sound. I listen to many different genres from classical music, rock, country, and some rap/hip hop all of which do excellent justice for these headphones. Conclusion: If your in the need for new ear bud’s I would recommend the V-Moda Vibes. They present a full sound and have superior comfort for the user. They are built with quality materials and come with many extras that justify the $90.00 price tag. 9.3/10 When you first get them, I suggest putting you're music player of choice on random and just letting it pup music through them for about 10 hours at higher than normal volume.
If you are going to get head phones, that go over your ear, I would go with Bose around-ear headphones. If you're looking at ear phones, that go inside your ear, I honestly have no idea. Either Vibe or Skull Candy, as mentioned above.
