http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php...71108&st=15 <-- read. was unfair to close the topic, in every sense of the word. was a community discussion, about the staff. it wasn't breaking any rules, therefore it shouldn't have been closed. whoever closed it proved buccaneer right in the sense that certain members of staff abuse their powers, just because they dont happen to like a topic of conversation.
How was it abuse? I'm perfectly fine with having criticism that was constructive. However preventing us from explaining our side and how we see things is a good way to create extensive bias with little to no chance of anything constructive coming out of it. If you want to make a topic that doesn't call people out, and keeps it constructive go ahead.
its fair enough, that you guys should be allowed to have your say, and defend yourselves against whatever accusations he was throwing. what i disagree with is the fact that it was closed, for what appeared to be no valid reason. and somethingcreepy, gtfo if you aren't going to post something constructive
Yea, you really shouldn't of closed it. Maybe just told/forced him to set aside the no staff rules. But he did have a point. He just wanted the community's view on things and staff would/could potentially interfere with editing polls, locking etc.
Why did I make the decision to close it? 1) If you have problem with an individual staff member PM an admin or take it to problems and suggestions. This is a vastly inappropriate way to go about it. 2) You can't have a discussion about one group if they're not able to participate. Another analogy: We're going to discuss Muslims except we're not going to let any Muslims in on the debate to correct any misconceptions and shut down any people who are just too pig headed to listen. 3) We don't need a thread posted every time someone is angry and feels the need to cry. 4) Being totally misinformed Its far too bad Leet CAN'T ban anyone... Apparently he lacks the comprehension to understand the nature of what goes on behind the scenes, especially given the above. I can and will continue if actually needed too.
He's ranting, he showed blatant disregard for the rules by opening a prior closed topic. If I had merely changed his rules, he would have been even more incensed. Perhaps the week off will allow him to calm down and think things through.
If you have problem with an individual staff member PM an admin or take it to problems and suggestions. This is a vastly inappropriate way to go about it. Apparently the 3-4 staff members who posted there didn't think it was "vastly inappropriate" so Buc has every right to not know about how you thought about it. 2) You can't have a discussion about one group if they're not able to participate. Another analogy: We're going to discuss Muslims except we're not going to let any Muslims in on the debate to correct any misconceptions and shut down any people who are just too pig headed to listen. He obviously wanted merely the community's thoughts. Staff interference (eg. changing polls, locking) would of distorted the results. Anywho, staff still posted there so it doesn't matter. 3) We don't need a thread posted every time someone is angry and feels the need to cry. I seriously doubt he wanted to cry (I find staff uses that saying quite a lot) but he certainly was angry so he instead tried to make it productive and see what the public thought about the staff's job. 4) Being totally misinformed Its far too bad Leet CAN'T ban anyone... It's far too bad that this doesn't serve anywhere as close as a good reason to close the topic. At this point, it seems as if you're getting helpless and just making random excuses and throwing them at me. Apparently he lacks the comprehension to understand the nature of what goes on behind the scenes, especially given the above. Yea, he lacks the comprehension to understand the nature of what goes on behind the scenes because he isn't behind the scenes. On the other hand, reading is something most people have the chance to learn so it makes a more formidable requirement then to understand the nature of what goes on behind the scenes, lol. I can and will continue if actually needed too. K [/b][/quote]
ok marforce, you make some valid points, but again, i still do not see the reason for closing the debate. 1) you say if anyone has a problem with a particular member of staff, they should pm them and discuss it behind the scenes. fair enough, but as far as i can see (i cant be bothered to go back and read the topic), no one was bashing any particular member of staff, but rather discussing the staff as a whole and discussing, as a community, if there was any weak links. i do particularly disagree with naming staff members though, it should have been kept anonymous. 2) i already agreed that the staff should have been allowed to post there, to get a debate going rather than a one sided slating. 3) you dont need a thread posting when someone is angry, sure, but only if its spam.. regardless to the mood he was in when he posted, it was still a very valid discussion about the people who run the site. closing a topic based on his mood creates the feel of a certain dictatorship within the forum, where the members aren't allowed to post how they really feel about something, for fear of bieng punished. 4) leet did what he thought was right under the circumstances and show initiative (which is great for a moderator), but as was said before, the punishment he gave was more lenient than had happened to other rippers. surely he knows the rules, and knows what should have been done in that situation. so why did he suspend rather than asking a mod to ban? my opinion is it was the wrong choice, one of very few mistakes he has made as a sectional moderator. finally, for bucc to assume that someone can't think about their answer within seconds and post, is plain ignorant of him, i agree.
Dragging a closed issue and restarting it in another thread. And again. He's trying to maintain a fair discussion but instead is showing his own bias, he's doing a good job of contradicting himself. Either way, I made a discretionary decision to lock the thread based upon my belief that it was unnecessary, a rant, and fruitless argument with someone who only wanted to be validated. If you still want to discuss the staff, I'm all for creating an open topic (I'll do it myself if necessary) provided things can be discussed. However, I'm not going to have to be subjected to ranting and whining of people are angry over recent events that didn't go their way.
