Hey guys I need some major help. I was at a party last night and the cops showed up. Most of us were caught and we all had to blow for the alcohol test. I blew a 0.0 because i didnt drink anything. I was taken to the station and my dad picked me up. Now im 16 and the officer said i have two fines: curfew and underage. Now what am I really up against? The police havent contacted me yet but I want to see what to expect now..

I have a clean record and i was just at the wrong place at the wrong time so will they not do too much to me?

    Thanks for the help guys.

Nothing will happen, you wont even get a slap on the wrist.

    Stop stressing.

Can't believe there is a curfew. I thought parents and cops made that stuff up.

    Design, stop spamming.

Your underage, and yoru breaking 2 extremely minor laws for being underage, assuming you have no prior history your prolly looking at a few weeks worth of community service, some small court charges, and probation meetings for a year or two, nothing bad at all.

I would highly advise against attempting to lie about any of your involvement as well, it will make it far worse for you.

As you said, you were on private property, so curfew shouldn't really apply, not like you were out. I would recommend calling up the county clerks office and finding out which DA is working on your case, or if you could speak with a DA about the case, and see if that charge is going through, and then explain yourself and why you feel the charge is unjust. DAs like to solve things outside of court, it makes the court cases go by faster, thus meaning a shorter and faster day in court and more time at home. Of course have all your necessary info when making the call. The citation officer, the court case ID (or ticket ID), etc. Keep a log of all calls made and received from the courts, so that you can show it in court as yourself having made an effort to speak with the DA regarding your case if in chance they try to say otherwise.

As far as underage in an area with alcohol, itsn ot a big deal, generally its a charge most DAs drop without really trying you, especially if you yourself weren't drinking.

Thanks a lot dementia and nanSTA. I'm not sure I want to call the DA and go through all that so I guess I'll just go to the court date and get it done there. How soon after the charges do court dates come in?

Thanks again for the help guys!

This is pretty relieving to read.. I hate the way the cops went all ape ---- and took everything way over the needed matter of seriousness. They wouldn't even let us put on shoes and when our parents picked us up they purposely ridiculed us and made us feel like ----.

But thanks again for the new replies.

Well, since you literally broke no laws because you were in a private residence and you did not have any conception of alcohol you are safe for those 2 charges, however if they are going to charge you with possession of alcohol then it would just be like a small fine or don't do it again w/e. Not even community service. maybe 10 hrs at most. I wouldn't contest it in court as you'd have to pay for a lawyer and that just costs too much (or have a court appointed one, so its free = GG)

Just stay outta trouble, from now on :)
