    Playstation 3

Ratchet & Clank Future:Tools of Destruction is the fifth (sixth if you include Ratchet & Clank Size Matters) installment in the Ratchet & Clank series. Even from the beginning of the series, Ratchet and his companion Clank have been a big hit. With the insane weapons and gadgets Insomniac Games give you, it's no wonder it's a fun filled adventure. Previous games from Insomniac have shown their creativity and expertise at making games. Now, Ratchet & Clank Future:Tools of Destruction is out, and the gameplay is exploding with action than ever before.

    -Summary/Storyline:
Ratchet & Clank Future:Tools of Destruction story revolves around Ratchet and Clank trying to discover who they are and their pasts. Ratchet is in search of his Lombax origins and the Lombax secret, but Emperor Percival Tachyon is also after this Lombax secret. Clank finds creatures, called Zoni's, who help him through missions, discovering his past, and warn him about the future. Ratchet and Clank's home world is attacked by Tachyon and they must fight against him to discover Ratchet's past, which is the key to the galaxy's future.

    -Gameplay
There are plenty of crazy gadgets and weapons which makes this game different than other platformers. With a total of 15 weapons, 11 gadgets, and 8 devices, this game creates new ways to destory enemies. An example being the Groovitron which can make any enemy dance to a funky beat. There is also a newly intergrated upgrade system to help you customize your weapons. Ratchet and Clank have some solo missions, like in previous games. Clank's missions lets you control the Zoni's to move objects, levitate Clank, destroy paths, and open doors while Ratchet's missions are similar to the normal game, but with the removal of Clank's hops. Another new addition is the use of the Six-Axis controls. It controls lasers to cut open pathways, flies with Clank, and controls some weapons.

    -Graphics
The graphics are a big component to get the full feel of your surroundings and the Ratchet & Clank experience. There are explosions and gunfire everywhere so this is where the Playstation 3's graphics come in handy. Small details to plantlife and boxes were added to make the environment more life-like.

    -Sound
The sound effects are very nice, there was good work put into them. Along with all the explosions and gunfire, the sound plays a big role in them along with the graphics. All the sound is very clear as well as voices.

    -Other
The last two Ratchet & Clank games, Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal and Ratchet: Deadlock, had online play, but Deadlock lacked the components to make a strong game. This game, however, does not have online play which can be good and bad. The good being Insomniac was able to focus more on the single player game to create better weapons, gadgets, gameplay, and a better storyline, and the bad being that after going through the game so many times, it gets repetative. It would help to have gone back to the original online gameplay, but sadly, it wasn't added.

    Ranks
Gameplay - 8/10 - Great weapons, gadgets, and battles. Not much to do the third time around challenge mode, though.
Graphics - 9/10 - The new Next-Gen graphics are a great way to get a better feel for the Ratchet & Clank environment.
Sound - 9/10 - Another great way to help add to the Ratchet & Clank environment and fighting.

    Conclusion
This game makes a great example of how Next-Gen games can be fun and visually stunning. It stays true to the original gameplay and utilizes the Playstation 3's features. If you have a Playstation 3, I recommend this game, especially if you have enjoyed previous titles from this series.</div>

Great Review, and very thorough. Although I would like to know some more things about the sound (if there's 5.1 surround and if theres a soundtrack and is it good.)

i agree for the most part, but i dont think there are as many faults in the game as you reviewed it. personally, this was a game worthy of a game of the year award (did it get one somewhere? not sure)

I didn't put really any faults in. But yeah this is from Insomniacs site:
"Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction was released on October 23rd, 2007 for the PlayStation 3. It won numerous editor's choice awards, and was featured on many year-end Top Ten lists, including being named the AP's Game of the Year runner-up"
