Hey mate, not too bad for a first. :) Unique navigation, however, not too sure about the font choice on it. I think it needs to be more...modern? I'm assuming the template is flash. As for the header, it looks a little... blank. Maybe put some soft brushwork around the edges to give it a little spark. Simple headers aren't bad, but you should probably change the font you used in the header. You generally want something bold and crisp. (I don't literally mean Bold but something that's kinda big, clean and modern). You should maybe consider separating the navigation a little from the header. Maybe fill in the rest instead of just having "loading" :P

It's not bad for a first mate. Keep working on it, you'll get better! :)

And here's a good link for ya,

Interesting concept. Everything looks too large though for me, leaving it quite empty. Also, I do find it odd that you've chosen to use a load bar rather than doing what is normal and showing what would be displayed, unless you envisioned lots of moving components in which case I can understand. Colours look solid but too much emptiness and maybe not the best fonts as Snowy said. Try and keep in mind, even with Flash, that not all fonts are easily reproduced on the web and having LOTS of images is not great. Stick with base fonts like verdana, arial, georgia and TNR
