Ok, well I would recommend taking up some smudging tuts, or some other tuts to just try and blend the render in more, also look at tuts that teach you some more tricks on making a better background, and most importantly, for me it was even more important than tuts, is just play around in PhotoShop, what you learn in playing around in photoshop can almost never be compared to what you learn in tuts, thats how it works, I accidentally pressed Ctrl+Alt+G one day just fooling in photoshop and I learned the clipping art trick and I've never forgotten that yet, so hopefully that helps you.
