6 Shot Dead In University Of Northern Illinois Shooting

"DEKALB, Illinois (CNN) -- A gunman dressed in black stepped from behind a curtain at the front of a large lecture hall at Northern Illinois University on Thursday and shot 21 people, five of them fatally, then shot and killed himself, said university president John Peters.

Rescue workers carry a victim from Cole Hall Thursday after a gunman shot 21 people during a geology class.

Four died at the scene, including the shooter, and two later died at the hospital, he said.

At least 22 people, including a graduate student who was teaching an ocean sciences class, were shot, Peters said.

Seventeen victims were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital, its Web site said.

Of those, six were in critical condition and were flown to other hospitals. One fatality, a male, was confirmed -- but was not the gunman, the hospital said. Two were admitted, and three others were discharged. The other five were not addressed on the Web site."

Why the ------ do people bother shooting up a school it proves nothing ---- i cant even tell you the names of any of the shooters from previose campas shoot ups.

 

Same kind of thing happened here (Finland) a while ago, and before that, Virginia tech shootout.

I predict a lot of people are considering this, it's only a matter of time when they just lose it and go to do whatever that they wish to do.

This is so ------ed up.

The thing is a majority of the people who go and commit such an atrocity always seem to end up taking their own life. Leaving much to be speculated why they did it.

I just don't understand why this guy would go and do this, he's a grad student, already has his Bachelor's degree in Sociology, and going for his Master's, and he goes and does something like this.

Was his life in such rough shape that he needed to make many more suffer along with him?

 

It's ashame that people actually do this ---- and then kill themselves afterward. There's no purpose in that. People like this are weak minded..

 

Why does it seem like most of the shootouts occur at places of learning? I am beginning to think they are really trying to tell the government something.

I seriously hope that there is no relationship.

 

For those who haven't heard he was supposedly off his anti-depressants for about 2 weeks, in which he purchased 3-4 hand guns and a 12 gauge shotgun.

In my opinion, if your gunna kill yourself, just do it and don't kill other people with you.

Think of a theatre curtain, that's probably what he stepped out behind. Some Uni class rooms are basically set up like an auditorium or stage.

people need to stop doing school shootings. They need to do something more original. Like maybe, mass school poisoning in the school food or something. Because people just aren't killing enough of others at school nowadays.

How about a plot to smear goo on the computer monitor of every college student in a dorm. Or buy industrial sized jugs of bleach and ammonia, mix them in a tub, and shove the heads of nearby college students under the surface for a while.

But on a serious note....


The actaul problem is the not the shooters but the society that are breeding these monsters or loners. Compared to the school culture of European nations and that of developed Asian nations, the American school culture can be said to very primitive, image oriented, rough, hellish, barbaric and very gritty. I know some of you see people here saying how life is a ----hole that you have to get out of, and they are mostly from the U.S, and that is very true of the present society that dominates America.
Its one of fanatic greed, and a narrow-minded conservatism almost to the point that it affects their perspectives and how they are, its a sheepish conformist society, where people are gullible to those with brains that are in power or those without whom are also in power. Often the most successful people that come out are mostly those that have a established economic base to rely on, and the necessary funds to go to top schools, (know where to go to help yourself, have the funds for programs outside of high schools, extra-curriculars, tutors etc) . You cannot get as much support, and people here are really really selfish, some people here pretend to be nice but how they are sometimes is just disturbing. Here in some places in the U.S (specifically the suburbs) if you can't figure out things by yourself or know where to go or what to do in cases, not charismatic enough or are overly dependent on others (basically people whom can't balance responsibilities or people whom don't have great organization or experience in life) will tossed aside in the wind and may as well get eaten by a pack of lions.

America may be a developed nation for now, but the society here is just sooooo orweillian-Darwinistic . People here even believe and know of this but people here just tell you do deal with it or believe its necessary so that the best and brightest may be produced. Unfortunately, I don't think those people are very bright either, the ones that are claimed to be super geniuses ,necessary for this society, are really, an arrogant elitist bunch that are making this society more ------ed up by every second. That also includes those whom praise or side with them on nearly everything or important issues like packs of sheep. Forget the American dream, it only exists when you sleep, you don't work hard and become part of the ruling elite here, you have to have money, connections, and be very clever. It seems every single day that the sly, and clever, not necessarily the brightest or smartest, are the most sucessful ones. You have to know places and where to go, what to do.
Anyone willing to go upward into this society, or obtain a great mobility most work really SMART, and I mean really really smart with charisma, cleverness, slyness while putting forth the right effort at the right areas at the right time which is usaully highly circumstancial. Statistics prove this, our economy and healthcare system is ----ty right now, and compared to European and other developed nations, America is the most underdeveloped of all.

Honestly I'm not surprised because this was bound to happen. America sucks, lets face it guys. Oh and don't worry, they're will be many more school shootings, many many more; much more to come if American society stays the way it is and keeps the same attitude on everything. It will produce a society of great psychopaths and people whom possess little or no moral reasoning combined with blind arrogance and a mix irrationality here and there.
