My only advice is to stay away from ASP...it has boundaries and is a fairly strict programming language; whereas, PHP is limitless and is a fairly loose language....it would be much better to program in PHP.....just my opinion though...

This isn't general discussion related at all, moved to offers and requests.

ASP is actually easier to work with if you are using the visual studio. Everything is already done for you... just drag and drop. Don't get me wrong I love PHP but I do think ASP has its place.

If you need help you can message me on MSN [email protected]

I wouldn't think this website would have many coders, if you want to learn ASP, you're best to do a course.

What on earth makes you think this site doesn't have any coders?!

There are plenty of coders on here, just not nearly as many ASP as PHP...and even more that know only html.

    I code:

    ASP (fairly well)
    PHP (mastered)
    HTML/XHTML/CSS (mastered)
    JavaScript (decent)
    Ajax/Spry (decent)
    and
    C++ (introductory)

As far as using ASP just because visual stufio does it for you, that is ridiculous because you will never actually learn like that. The best way to learn it is to actually get into it and write it yourself.

well having a windows based server doesn't mean you cant have php >.<
if you just want php you can download it from php.net
but there is some packages with pretty much everything included (php, apache, mysql)
    like wamp etc.

If you need help coding I could sure help ya out.

No offence rueterj I highly doubt that you master php.

    regards

    Breezer

    None taken.

I have "mastered" php in the essence that I could do anything that would be required from my job. I used mastered as a relative term."Mastered" kind of depends on the requirements of your client. And yes, there is absolutely no way anyone on here has TRULY mastered php, as it is an ever changning language.

I actually tried getting OSCommerce to work on my page. (Thats a php based shopping cart) It didn't work and i followed all the steps on their page. So i called 1&1 and they told me that since i have a microsoft based server i can't use php just ASP.

They have misinformed you..you just need to download and install the PHP package, along with Apache.

Just be sure to disable IIS on port 80 on whichever server you are using..

A lot of the time, I will use IIS as a secondary, on port 8080, for apps that cannot be served in PHP.
