Just thinking it would be nice if GR maybe made a mobile friendly section. I am constantly on my blackberry now and it is really hard to navigate. I'd be more than willing to help develop it. Just a thought. I'd be able to keep in touch with tnuck and morv better this way.
I use N Web which is US Celluars version for the Razer V3C, and I can't log into GR. It tells me I do not have permission.
i dont know how any of that works with money. if you have to pay to go mobile or not, but to me it seems like a feature that not many people would use and kinda be useless. but thats just my opinion.
It costs me $6 dollars a month, and anything like flash or any costs extra to view. There is a Razer Google Proxy thats free but you can't view WAP pages for some reason. I believe its called OpenWave
if you wanted to just browse, after you log in, you could use the lo-fi version thats what i use on a lot of forums when im on my psp
But that makes no sence since its a GFX forums. Most come here to look at graphics and in Low-fi version, you can't view images
And your blackberry screen is of a tiny resolution, most images here are bigger than your screen. Its going to look poorly anyway.
With regaurds to the comments about being able to view only sertin formats its because of partnerships between companies, they team up thus that mobile can only view that format, ericson uses java mostly, and so do nokia i believe then there are other formats that dont fit any phones. I doubt this will become an option, not enough interest and i am unsure on licencing.
It doesn't matter what resolution the images are on the site. Blackberrys automatically resize the images to allow them to fit. There are mobile versions of ipb out there. Ever since the creation of the .mobi extension, companies have almost been forced to make their sites mobile compatible in order to keep up with everyone. Now, I do understand that there is a very small percentage of the users here that own a blackberry. The numbers only slightly rise (when compared to the number of total users) for those who own a WAP enabled phone. I am trying to look at things from not only a accessibility standpoint, but monetary as well. There wouldn't be too much of an investment involved to make a mobile version, and I'm sure the benefits would far outweigh the costs. I apologize if it seems like I'm rambling, just thought I'd bring up an idea. Hopefully this lays it out in a more coherent view.
Try to download and install Opera Mini Browser, it's very nice and its making websites looks perfect. Also runs alot smoother. Thehe. http://www.operamini.com/ ^_^
