I'm a Senior in high school and I'll be going to West Virginia University. Really the standard for top-level college students (aside from Ivy League, and other top educational institutions) is a composite score of 30 on the ACT, or around a 1360 (Crit. Reading + Math) on the SAT. By that I mean you'll likely receive the highest merit-based scholarship the college offers. I got a 1350 on my SAT, and a 30 on my ACT so I'm likely to go through WVU without paying a penny. Hopefully your scores reflect how you felt you did, which I'm sure is good.
nice scores man... thats funny how good schools give out more money than worse schools. Harvard is a good example (no one can pay more than $18000). but i really want to try for Williams College. its the best liberal arts school in the nation (so its a definite reach) but its also the "best value" according to the US news. i mean, it cant hurt to apply.
Wanna know something? Your employees will hardly care unless your the absolute top in your field. If I was taught anything in my 2 years of college and through my high school career, just like colleges, careers don't care who taught you, or what kind of additional above and beyond classes you took over the average requirements for the job. In fact, most places are intimidated to hire someone with a higher end degree from a more prestigious school. Why? Because your naturally going to assume you deserve more money because you invested more work and money into your education. To let it be known, your knowledge of a subject is minimally different from any other standard 4 year college. This is the same reason and concept that its almost more difficult for a doctor to find work than someone with a bachelors. Someone else will accept a lower pay to do the same work, and thats what matters in the market. So unless you intend to be the future CEO of some company, desire to open your own institute of higher learning, intend to be a doctor, lawyer, or any of the judicial branch judges (not supreme court, just a standard judge) the extra effort, money, and time your spending will be of little help to you in the future. Also, as for how I related this to school. Regardless of the classes you took, the same person, same involvement in extra curriciular activities, with a 4.0 no AP classes cumulative GPA will have an equal, if not better chance of getting into school than you, for a multitude of reasons.
Well now I live in the uk but 3 months ago when I was back in the states my sis took the sats. She complained at how easy it was and how flawed too. The question had grammatical mistakes and my mom teaches english and went to harvard so we naturally know a lot of english. But yeah the sats suck.
