for the past few months ive been tryign to downgrade from vista to xp, with unsuccessful results. is there anyone, please anyone who can tell me how to do this. and yes i am willign to wipe out ym entire HD
Put in Vista disks. Restart PC. Enter bios (usually Delete button at start up). Set CD with first boot priority. Use Vista install to reformat Windows partition. Install.
if im not mistaking... u need to format the MBR and use a program like partition magic or u can use the xp cd you need to delete teh partition and create it again vista overrides the MBR
why downgrade, just dual boot, much easier and you dont loose data, also if one os happens to fail, boot in the other and fix the problem
ya its pretty simple take ur XP cd, pop it in and delete the partitions and install it on the empty partition.
If you're trying to downgrade while keeping your data, you'll need to contact Microsoft via phone. They'll ask you for your serial and will then take you through all the steps needed to downgrade. If you're just trying to wipe, delete the partition/reformat and just install a clean OS.
you dont need to contact microsoft for anything just back up your data on DVD's or an external HD. Even if you have 1 internal HD but its partitioned, you can still put all the data you want onto the one partition and clear the other with the OS installed on it, while keeping the other with all ur data.
the title is misleading. It should be "upgrading Vista to XP." But, as explained above, if you put in the XP cd, it will lead you through the formatting and installation.
It doesn't make sense downgrading, Vista is fine. Sure the driver issues are a real pain and yes it would probably explode in your face when trying to do something that should work on it, but this is how XP started all those years ago...
nah, vista is still more demanding, i thought playing games it would be matters of 5 fps difference, but its more than that
