Well guys and gals it is that time in my life when I am fed up of my old Dell Desktop and want a new computer :P

Though I do not have that much money to build a custom one so yeah would love if you guys can help me get a good and running computer for a small price

My Price Range for now is $700-800 bucks

One more thing that I only trust newegg so it would be nice to have all the parts ordered from newegg since i buy most of my computer/technical accessories from them...plus they have good customersupport!

In this price range I would like to have these components (IF POSSIBLE):
    ---Core 2 Duo Processor (2.0+ghz)
---2 GB Ram ... (I saw some good ones on newegg)
---Good Graphics Card that can play current and future games?
---A descent amount of storage HD .. can be a baracuda or a raptor..
    ---Cooling System...duh!
---DVD Drives...would be nice to have 2 if possible if not then ok
    ---Ethernet and wireless card...
    ---Keyboard + Good Mouse
---ANYTHING ELSE THAT I NEED for this computer to be complete..

In Addition what would you guys suggest?
    XP or VISTA?
I have been using Vista Premium on my Laptop since it came out and havent seen or found any problems with it...but I still miss XP...

If I missed something then do tell me :)

Thanks again and try to get it around 700-800 BUCKS USD

if you want something nice, i built my rig for 900 and its extreemely powerful, 1.5terabytes of space invidea 8800gt card 2gig ram 3ghz dual core processor and a 400wat power suply, but then you have to factor in the case cost, the cd drive costs, what will fit, how well you want it cooled, if you will be overclocking, what kind of games are you running and amd or intel? oh! and the OS legaly bought for about 150 :)

    Xlink...
Thanks for the things...hm...is ATI HD 3850 a good card?
cuz i was thinking about geforce something ... eh?

It is ok as far as i want it can be something.. i see potential in this build already..!!!

Lets see what else...so as far as I see the price for what you pulled up is around 710 or somewhere around 700
but i can go up to 800 or more if needed since i still have to talk to parents if they would allow it...

and also if my budged goes up will tell but for now i want to get this computer in the next month or so because of some religious program that is going on so yeah..

THanks again and will get back to you Xelink

the 3850 is the onyl card worth a damn in it's price range. the next closest card is the GeForce 8600(and that basically SUCKS) and the 3850 is OVER twice as powerful even though it only runs around 10-20% more.

it's roughly worth $910-50ish everything including software and peripherals. before taxes and shipping of course

if having tech support is worth it to you, then by all means go for it should you desire.
if you find that you typically know more than the guy on the other end of the line well...

and as for the card, it's a so-so card, it's roughly 1/3rd as powerful as the 3850. It will do for older games quite nicely and will player newer games on low/medium.

as for RAM, the stuff included in the Dell is DDR2-667 with timings of 5-5-5

and FYI if they make you pay a ton for the CPU...
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115017

    CPU's MSRP is under $300

Well if that is the deal then I wont buy it :)

I will take the configuration that you were building ... allright?

Ooh and the cpu that you chose... can you make it a quad core if possible? but still be like around 800ish? bucks

    Thanks again
    -N6

Edit: I am off to school so will check back later then !
    thanks xlink

making it a quad is hard to fit in that envelope unless you're willing to cut on the graphics card

even then there are very few things which fully utilize 4 cores. The killer apps which was supposed to make people go for quads was crysis - real world performance difference ~1% per clock.

I'll dig up links after work today.

Wait ... really? only a couple that need quad
Well in that case I guess I will go for a 2.4ghz Dual Core 2? is that possible to fit in my envelope?
if so..since I want a graphics card which will be a good resolution on a monitor and good graphics .. rendering and other stuff for games..

    Thanks a bunch

and that'd be everything, if you need a larger drive just say so I'll dig up a link.

all of everything over there should be
    CPU
    motherboard
    RAM
    harddrive
    power supply
    DVD burner
    case

and yes I'm a rebate whore, if you insist on NOT having stuff which uses rebates, say so and I'll give it a look.

    other things to consider
    3870 instead of 3850
q6600 instead of e6550(only considerable if doing LOTS of media encoding)
bigger harddrive(500GB drives go for $100)

If you want better cooling for the CPU(quieter) also mention is as the stock heatsink, while acceptable is a bit of a pain to some who are very noise sensitive - myself included.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835887011

and FYI this is a comparison of video cards.
    http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_200...8&chart=318
and FYI it's possible to get the 3850 to run almost as fast as the 3870, it's just less vRAM, so texture quality might need to be sacrificed in some isntances

    Thanks Xelink :P

Ok so let me put it all down...

    CPU: Q6600
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115017
    $277.99

    Motherboard:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128059
    $89.99

    RAM:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820146565
    $74.99

Hm...I looked on Newegg...is there anyway to get ram under 50bucks? or so ? if so then i could get a better Video card if i cut 50bucks..

    Hard Drive:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822148288
    $119.99

    Power Supply:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817153023
    $39.99

    Case:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119115
    $34.99

    DVD-CD Burner:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106072
    $34.99

    Graphics Card:
    You said this one:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814241066
    ...
    $169.99
I think that for another 100bucks this should be good right?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130319
    eh?
    $269.99

    As for the Cooling system..
do you think that this one will fit (in the case) and work with my computer?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835200026
    $49.99

So if my calculations are not wrong then the total price is
    ...
    $992.91

    Woa...
thats 200bucks more than I expected but I am getting a quad core processor and a good graphics card...
Also it has 75bucks in Mail and Rebate...so yeah! that is around 900bucks
Plus almost* all the parts are with 3 day free shipping so shipping can be out but tax will still be there..
Again I will say this bud Xelink..if you can just get a cheaper 2GB sticks of ram that would help me and my budged as i want everything under that much money
Other than that I will go and consult with my parents if the price is right even though I am paying for this stuff :P

Oohh...as for the parts that I chose where you gave me choices can you check once again  if everything is compatible :D

    Please
Thanks again and do tell if I can change something to save money :D

    -N6

EDIT: actually I just double checked and everything that I am getting is free 3day shipping...

PLUS!!! we forgot the most importnat parts...
    Monitor ... Keyboard ... Mouse???????????????????????????????????????????

    Another quick question...
There is a wireless built into the computer right? or at least an ethernet port?
sorry but I do not know these things..if i were to buy a computer online build already or from store i usually check for these things ^_^
