http://www.apple.com/macbookair/ hot? yes. expensive? of course. the next big thing? probably. practical for people like us? absolutely not. basically, it's an underpowered "subnotebook" thats designed for the people who just need to view small files and get to the internet on the move. not you and me. personally i think its sexy. it can come with a solid state drive. its pretty cool.
i dont like it, no not because its made by apple, but the screen size, and because of the o/s.. should i mention the price? with apple launching its renting mpvie service, should be a big year for them..
looks good, but i hate all laptops/notebooks, i'd rather just get a Mac PC though i dont have the money... Ubuntu
I don't see what the big deal is. I would rather have that extra .25 inches of width for more power and battery life. It's seems that Air is just Apple going "look what I can make."
innovations for the sake of innovation with the additional costs and deficiencies passed down to the consumer
it starts @ $1800 doesn't have a cd/dvd drive has a SLOW 4200rpm drive(they haven't made those since '95 desktop side) and ONLY ONE USB port also no firewire.
Wouldn't even buy this for 1000 USD. Reasons are quite obvious and are stated in previous posts. This is just going to extreme.
well like i said, this is in no way meant for people like us. this is for people who just need to see things on the go. they need USB for their ipod but thats about it. as far as i can tell, its basically a big smart phone with a monitor and an OS. but theres no denying the touchpad stuff is cool. imagine just turning your hand in photoshop versus having to go to image-rotate canvas-etc...
come back to me on that thought when NAND flash memory is twice a fast, and costs 1/20th as much and when they include 5 or 6 USB ports, those suckers are supported via the chipset so i don't see why it'de be so hard to implement them asside from apple trying to make the thing so thin,. Total rip off of sony TZ, but more expensive, fewer features and chances are a lesser battery life as well
I want the macbook air, but the 3,000$ one with a super drive and 7200 rpm hd. I think it's totally sex.
