Okay so now when I want to do a gradient map, I go under "Colors> Map> Gradient Map". Though there is one thing that I just cannot figure out. To my understanding there is supposed to be an options box for the map allowing you to alter hue, opacity,etc..., but I don't get that? Do any of you guys know how to get the box to appear?

Thanks a lot for all of the help in advance!

    Here is my menu

Then it just leaves this, no options to edit the map:

So I can't get the menu to pop up showing me my gradient map options.

No it was never working, but in all of the Tuts ( including GIMP ones) they talk about setting the opacity lower and changing the hue and what not, I cannot figure out what they mean. I know what the box should look like, I have seen a screenshot ofit, but I can't get it to show up. =|

there's no popup option for editing the gradient map. instead, all of those functions are handled in the layers dialog, which in your screenshots, is on the right side of your screen.

As far as I know you can't edit the gradient map itself. and if you're talking opacity and all that, I believe the gradient map has to be on a new layer. Copy Visible>Paste your tag, and then add the gradient map. It has to be on a new layer in order to change the blend ranges and the opacity I believe.

    Yes
you choose colors for graident maps, by choosing what your foreground color, and backround color are
or by selecting a gradient, before using the gradient map feature

then if you want to alter the mode, or opacity

if its not up already u go to dialogs: Layers
click on the layer with the gradient map, either click the slider, or click
    the blending mode........

dont know if thats detailed enough

havn't had gimp for a long time so i can't really take a screen shot to point it all out
    its fairly simple

fyi layers dialoge box is currently open on your screen shot that box to the right
but i recommend making a new layer, before adding a gradient map :)

idk how much u already know is what a slight problem here is
