first. this is ART. this is not mathematics. or theoretical physics.

there is no right, wrong, good, bad in this field that isn't wholly subjective.

the only person who truly decides how good you are is you.

so stop listening to some $emi-ignorant classer so much, do your own thing, enjoy what you do, stop worrying what other people think of it, then come back and tell me if you still suck.

Tuts help help you learn how to do stuff, read them especially if you want to learn how to do something that is in the outcome sig.

Other than that try to learn from others around you and accept peoples CnC even if it is mean.

Lastly, experiment that's all my sigs are nowadays just screwing around in PS until i find something that will work in my sig.

Oh...? So you're saying I should spend more than the 4 hours a day I'm already spending and loose all contact with the real life? Right... That's what normally you would do right? Well. I'm not about to become a un-social person because of gfxing.

Well I guess the majority votes vote on resources I guess... ._.

I'm sure a lot of those people you speak of have been practicing in the traditional arts long before they got photoshop, thus they know how to express their creativity better(all they have to learn is how to work the tools which would only take about half a year).I would listen to those stupid rating sites anyways, they're just gunna end up discouraging you from making graphics, plus a lot of them are biased about what looks good and what the "in" thing to do is or who is making the tags.Thats not to say picking up a few new tricks is a bad thing of course.

yea dont do tuts, thats just copying someone else's work, as for psd's i've never looked in to one,

the only lack i have is resources altough i'm trying a shot at some 3d stuff in cinema4d now, and i'll porbably try illy in a while too ^^ try making your own recourses they will fit you the best and you can make them how you want.

well, I'm doing this for nearly a year now and I'm quite satisfied with how I'm doing with PS. I just read some tuts, tried some effects, experiment with every sig lately and just do it whenever I feel like using it. Tho, good stocks will also always work in your advantage :P

First off, if you don't have skill, you have no way of effectively applying your creativity to your work. Secondly, do lots and lots of tutorials. for the first 6 months of doing this, every tag i made was from a tutorials. Third, look at .psds. Check out the Bare Canvas resource pack. I compiled it, and i know there's tons of great .psds from some of the best on GR. other than that, just stick with it.

do that, find your own style, your own effects, you own bg making skills, your own way of smudging and put them all together (plus coloring ect.)
