the higher the card is on the list, the more powerful it is(overall) at stock. the $ value next to it i what I feel the card is worth based on overclocking headroom, power consumption, the cooling on the stock solution, image quality, feature set and a few other things.
Use this as you wish. This is based largely on my opinion and should be accurate of what I consider the card to be worth within a few percentage points. If it's not on the list, then it's either made in very small quantities, OEM only, or just not worth it. Remember if you're buying a card(for relatively modern games atleast), it's better to drop $100 and get a card 10 times as powerful as your current than to drop $60 and to get one only twice as powerful

    I'd have the 3800's and 2900's above the 7950GX2

well if you haven't noticed, the lower end stuff is ranked pretty close to reality... it's just as you go higher up the margins become larger and stuff gets overpriced.

the 9800GX2 was just announced. Apparently it's 30% more powerful than the 8800 Ultra, however, that's just speculation on the engineering sample.

and k10 is faster than conroe by 40%...

if everything is as I've heard, 9800GX2 is roughly on par with the 8800 ultra

though it'll definitely pull ahead after some overclocking. You just need water...

I'd say intel more likely. As intel basically brought their competitor into bankruptcy. AMD is down from $45 a share to $5 a share. nVidia on the other hand doesn't exactly have that solid of a lead, ATi is still really competitive and quite frankly most cards being bought on the high end are $150-300, not the ultra highend where $400 cards reside.
