Only thing I care about sleep now, is that it kills time. However, if I had the opportunity to use this drug, and I had stuff to do, I would use it in a heart beat.

As it would seem, your brain only needs sleep for Orexin A. And based off the research, that IS all that is needed. So if sleep only helps to produce Orexin A, then taking a drug that tricks the brain into thinking that it can produce it would only eliminate sleep.

Yea but would you ever get that same natural feeling of waking up and feeling refreshed? rather then going all the way through days without it?

Only reason I would use it is if you got the feeling of sleep, and, even with the chemical I don't think it would be 100% effective.

It'd be expensive if you think about it. You'd eat more meals, wear more clothes, etc. I guess it could have its benefits though.

I hate waking up, I'm not a morning person, so it takes me like 15 minutes to get up, about 3 hours until I'm not tired anymore, and if I take short naps, I wake up and my mouth always feels really dry for some reason, and I'll have bad breath.

So no, I won't miss this apparent "natural feeling of waking up and feeling refreshed".

your brain might, but that certainely doesn't mean the rest of your body does.
your body builds and repairs cellular tissue ONLY during sleep.

this drug probably only gets rid of tiredness, but DOES NOT replicate sleep in it's entirety.

think about it this way - you just got your arm sawed off. the doctors give you morphine to ease the pain. The pain is gone, but your arm doesn't grow back.
this chemical would remove drowsiness but would not do the rest. If it does then so help me God...

the real test would be to keep monkeys awake for one year and keep them sustained only on this and see how many die.

Sleep is also a time when your heart gets rest.

If your heart was working full blow all day everyday for a month you'd probably have a heart attack.
