I have a few tech questions. 1. When I restore my computer using the recovery disks that I got when I bought my computer (They burned them from Start > All Programs > PC Help & Tools > HP Recovery Tools CD) does it just rewrite everything and it still stays on my computer taking up space? 2. If it does stay and takes up space, what can I do to get rid of the things stuff that stays on so my computer is completely wiped clean? 3. Are the 3 disks they burned for recovery when I got the computer at best buy even effective? (Yes I know best buy is suckish but I didn't know that at the time ~_^) Thanks for any and all help
i believe the recovery disks is like a system restore. Only, this disk restores your computer back to the point when it was new ( or when ever the disk was created) I THINK thats how it works, not sure though
The recovery disc will restore your computer the way it was when you bought. Each manufacturer is different but i believe that HP gives you the option to just reinstall the OS and keep your files or wipe your computer and then reinstall the OS so its exactly how it was when you bought it. The discs you got from Best Buy could be the same discs you burned or a general HP recovery disc. There's no way of telling it was up to the tech who did the work.
So when I do a restore will I have to do anything different since I got a new GFX card since they created the restores or just install my drivers?
How would I go about doing that? Thats why it seems my gfx card is acting up since I did a system restore probably.
Well, what I usually do is use CCleaner and under the Tools tab I locate where it says "nVidia/ATi (as applicable) Drivers" and select Run Uninstaller.
