    Comparison Here

The new Finger Eleven hit "Paralyzer" sounds an awful lot like Franz Ferdinand's phenomenon "Take Me Out". I think F11 might have been borrowed a little too much.

    What do you think?

Kurt Cobain admitted he wanted to rip off the Pixies in "Smells Like Teen Spirit". No song these days, though, is truly a rip-off. If you want rip-offs, go back to the 1800s where they purposely repeated the same sheets of piano notes when they performed. Every song really is different one way or another. The mainstream isn't repetitive in the variety of songs the radio displays, but really, the mainstream just lacks a lot of quality period.

Ummmm...doesn't sound like a copy to me. They do sound a little similar, but defiantly not copied.

I disagree...at the end of the video they played them at the same time and the beats were exactly the same, they sounded like one song together. I don't think it's a copy, though. Just a similar beat.

I see a small similarity.. but music has been around for so long that almost every note has been played already

Poor mainstream indie pop wannabes all sound the same. My mate's have a band and they sound just like the Arctic Monkeys... that's why I refused to join them when they asked. Instead I went and started my own electric, post-hardcore alt band that rips off non mainstream artists instead XD

alot of songs have to use the same rhythmic theme. its simple, it isnt stealing from the music. alot of them run off of one of Beethoven's famous pieces, 200+ of the songs that are on the top songs use the same rhythmic theme.

Yeah, but Finger Eleven also uses an extremely similar melodic structure. It's just too close. When I first heard "Paralyzer" I thought 'Franz Ferdinand?'.

Sure you can point out that everybody also uses the same chord progressions (Pachelbel or GCD), but it's the individual structure that could get somebody sued.
