Was searching for 500-600 watt PSU's and i came across this one by Ultra. Newegg.com doesn't sell it but judging from the reviews it looks like its godly for the price. Any of you guys use one or have any comments about it? The things that i saw right away was up to 85% efficiency, modular cabling & a lifetime warranty. I will probably buy it soon so i always ask a lot of questions first . I've also seen a few other places saying that the s are decent, highend units. Not sure if it was just referring to the 100W unit. I'm going to take his word on it completely. Jonnyguru is like THE guy when it comes to power supply reviews in the overclocking community. as for PSUs in the 500-600W range http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-E5150GH that is the grand daddy of good PSU deals in my opinion. Basically it can handle any single video card(WITH overclocking too), an overclcoked quad core, a simple water cooling loop, and a few drives without issue. review(it's the same unit, silverstone repackages several enhance PSUs) http://jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=23 chances are you can't go wrong either way though.
Thanks for the reply xlink, some great info there! Question about the Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W, is it modular and is it a single 12v. rail? My apologies if it was right there in front of me and i didn't see it.
not modular. technically pretty much every PSU is single rail but a lot of PSUs "split" the rail. the rail is split into two 18 amp sections and the rails are truly additive in that the total 12V amperage available is 36A. and by the specs of the x3, the total available on it's single rail is also 36A. So in terms of 12V amperage, they're on par, though the doesn't split the rail, so that could eb construed as better since you don't ahve to worry about load distribution as much(though I'd say that it shouldn't really matter in terms of real world application.)
Last question which i should have asked earlier, what type of warranty do i get with the Enhance? Because with the i will pretty much be guaranteed my moneys worth back after 3-4 years of using it and if it breaks i am also guaranteed a replacement or fix making it well worth the investment. At the price of it, is a warranty really an issue? Is spending another $75 3-4 years down the track going to be an issue? Legally, the Enhance PSU should have a year of manufacturer coverage at elast.
