Does the tutorial have to be like this:

or can it be like this:

    1) Open the picture you want. (For those people that are really "newbies" at Photoshop, there are three ways to open a document:
    1. File then Open.
    2. Control + O.
    3. Double click the gray area.

    2) Create a new canvas at whatever size you want.
    1. File then New.
    2. Control + N.

    3) Find the Lasso tool icon in the tool palette. Right click it and select the Polygonal Lasso tool.

    4) Use the Polygonal Lasso tool to select the part that you want to make glow.

    5) Then right click the selection and select “Layer Via Copy”

    6) Then go to the toolbar up the top and find Layer. Scroll down to Layer Style. In the next drop down menu select “Gradient Overlay.”

    7) Use these settings:

You can change the angle setting to anything you like, depending on the image you’re using. Set this layer to “Color Dodge.”

    8) This stage is slightly tricky, this is how you do it:

Find the Move Tool in the Tools palette. It should be a black arrow with a four direction pointed compass shape underneath it.

Make sure your canvas is enlarged so that you can see gray around the outside and move the Gradient left so that it’s not visible anymore.

    9) Find the last little button on the very bottom of the tools palette, it should have a document with an arrow pointing to the ImageReady logo, click it.

    10) On the toolbar find Window then go to Animation. This should open up the Animation toolbar on the bottom of the screen. If it was already opened and you closed it, re-click. Now find and click this button:

Then take it back into Photoshop using the same button but with the Photoshop logo on it.

    11) Now repeat Step 8 but move it all the way over to the right so that it’s no longer visible.

    12) Now take it back into ImageReady.

    13) On the Animation toolbar look for the button next to the Duplicate button, known as the Tween button.

    14) Set the Tween to about 40 frames and make sure Previous Frame is selected.

    15) After that, go to File, then select Save Optimized As (Very Important), choose whatever file name you like and you’re done.

THE BOTTOM ONE WAS RETYPED BY ME FROM AN ANIMATION TUTORIAL THAT WAS WRITTEN REALLY BADLY.
