Ok so I use firefox or IE and my net goes really slow for loading almost every web page...ive run avast and AVG to make sure I didn't have any viruses, then ad aware SE personal, still going slow, games I play run fine with no lag, it's just web pages...seems like i'm on 56k. Oh and i've ran speedtest.net, downloading to chicago goes up to 30000 kbps, upload speed doesn't wanna do jack. thanks if you can help
I would definitely recommend calling whoever your internet provider is and being like wtf is wrong with my internet?!
You ever try doing the typical PC maintenance like De-Frag and clearing your cookies ? the system tools stuff? I think having two anti-viruses could be the problem they interfere with each other sometimes
If you are not going through a router, and do not have a static IP, you can open up command prompt and type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew Have you tried power cycling your modem? That sometimes does the trick. You could have something open that is for whatever reason hogging all your bandwith. If you have another computer (and do not have a router), hook it up and see if its internet runs slow. Last resort is to call your ISP... Chances are they won't tell you much especially if your router is not from them or you have a modem.
Run some malware/spireware/virus scans throughout your computer. Try running in safe mode and go into IE. I never recommend IE to anyone, I myself use Opera. If nothing else call your ISP and they should be able to run a test to see if they catch any problems
Nope, other computer hooked up to it works fine, when that computers not in use the nets still the same way. It's only slow on Firefox and IE, games I play are fine, but waiting like 3 minutes for gamerenders to load is a pain since it use to load in like 2 seconds. Tried defrag, virus scans, ad aware, still being a pain.
I do run into this issue also, I don't honestly think I have spyware and things like that because I know how to handle those. Usually restarting my comp works, this issue stopped about a week ago, I just think it's a packet issue that's all
