not in a good 4 years or so. Not to say that I have had to help ym mother and step father out. And I'll admit when you consider the fact that I average a new OS install once every 2-4 months(I mess around with various OS install from vista to XP to 98 to winserver 20003 and more so go figure) I might have missed something I've picked up, but ehh as long as I don't notice it and it doesn't affect me I'm ok. http://www.google.com/search?q=firefox+scr...lient=firefox-a that's my way of telling you to check before asking, but while still being nice enough to show you exactly what to do. now, it is a slight inconvenience at times, if I'm ona site that I trust and it wants to run a script, I have to right click an icon and select allow. I'm willing to tolerate ti as it basically makes your browser f'up proof so long as you don't do anything stupid. then the only vulernabilities you have are from downloadng tons and tons of random files and executing .exe and .bat files, but then that's your own fault as doing the like on other systems leaves you vulnerable as well.
ZiNg - This is the second time i have had to ask you not to do something today. Stop double posting. If you forget to say something or want to add more into your posts i suggest you edit them, there is no need for you to make a whole new post about it. Next time i see you doing something like this i may not be so leniant. Thank you.
Windows rocks all the way windows is so much better and the people that say vista sucks your all wrong it is so much better then mac 10x and xp and linux, windows has a much better front and back it has top security and most programs run on windows. So one more thing to say VISTA FTW
Windowblinds ftw, other than the look, I see no reason to get Vista for a while. Probably when they stop making applications compatible with Xp.
everything you said is generally true. Well asside it being 10 times better than OSX and linux. As an operating system all by itself I'd say it's inferior, though a platform is more than just the OS. but who needs security when there is noone to target you? and the only thing windoze has on OSX is the fact that OSX has piss poor memory management.
Honestly why are you making a topic about this? If windows was secure like it says it is and never got viruses... then what would the thousands of people who work for/create virus programs do? It's all a circle my friend, if one thing is perfect then people lose money... its that simple. You can't even imagine how many hard working men and women make a living off these types of things. You are saying that you would rather have one perfect OS and have people lose jobs rather than a great OS for people like you and me? You seem like you know quite a bit about operating systems, so why are you so worried about other people losing money to them? I personally could care less that little miss Susy down the street paid 200 bucks at geek squad to get a virus removed, if it wasn't for suckers like that then half the economy would lose money... i know i would.
so what are you using with XP? what I am trying to say you shouldn't HAVE to have other programs protect your PC
Each OS has it's own ups and downs. -You pay for SUPPORT on about 60% of the items you purchase. - Windows is one that comes with Support. -Security being an issue, even though the server OS's are really nice, Linux will most likely always be safer. -When gaming, there are way more games on Windows. Period. They just get the big companies. -When installing things and being user friendly, Windows OS's will always take the cake. Even though, I admit that Linux is getting there more and more each release. Basically you can't honestly compare these two OS's because most of them are not made for the same purpous. If you compare one server OS to the Linux you're leaving out one part, if you compare the --- OS to the Linux your leaving out another part on the other OS. It just gets confusing and pointless. There are infinite sides to take because each have advantages. So this is quite pointless.
what's a mac? is that a PC model made by a specific vendor, like a dell XPS, or a HP pavillion? probably is since every single consumer consumer, including those made by apple is now technically a PC clone... not that that's necessarily bad as you can install the following operating systems on ANY PC: windows, OSX, anything BSD based, anything linux based, other various *nix and *nix-like OSes...
I use a Mac, running OSX Leopard. But seriously man, all your doing is pointing out the very very worst things that can happen. Oh yeah, my Mac rules =D
Nice to see you added your own to that 99% then. Anyway. I used Windows, always have. I dabbled with Linux about 4 years ago but I really didn't see much point in swapping. I leave my PC on -constantly- and I've never had a system crash due to windows or otherwise. Used to Windows like the majority of the population, and although it may not be completely deserved they do dominate the gaming market completely. In terms of security, the weak point behind the modern OS's security is primarily the soft squishie thing sitting behind the computer ; ala you. If you get an anti-virus/spyware program (Which are avalible free) and don't go around downloading crap and running random .exe's the chances are you'll never have an issue. If you're infected with something ------ing up your system then the chances are it's your fault.
Thanks for summing up everything ever said about Windows vs Linux vs Mac. Good to see you can at least repeat what others say.
