Photoshop is better, but if you can't afford it, GIMP is the next best thing.

Some say GIMP is a basic Photoshop and you should use it, but Photoshop is better. All you need to do is do tons of experiments!

Use Gimp if you can't get Photoshop; or for whatever can't run it.

I haven't used Gimp for a while, so I can't describe it vs. Photoshop.

GIMP is a basic Photoshop. Just less filters and features, but some people can make awesome gfx with GIMP.

no matter what people say GIMP is the perfect program to start with. It's free, it has many options and additional features, and it can help you learn the concept of sig making with it. It's not gona b as good as photoshop but its still pretty decent. You can render just as well in GIMP as u can in photoshop, no matter what people sayy ive rendered 30+ prem renders with gimp alone. You can also make great sigs, if you ever need to smudge or anything use the vine brush with 1 spacing and then smudge around with a lighter opacity =] haha well ive just recently upgraded from GIMP to Photoshop and Photoshop is wayy better but still GIMP is pretty good. Use that until u get enough money to LEGALLY get photoshopp =]

GIMP is great for starters, and it's free.
