kyle, whether you like it or not, that already happens. Notice why the trendy sigs sell for a lot and get better CnC than the newbie's creation. If all art is an expression, what is your sigs expressing? And as for people judging, what the hell is showcase for then? Why even show your art here if its just for the creator to judge.

I don't agree with a classing system because as some may not believe, tags are art. No one can define art, and what looks good is different for everyone, so to put a label on someone's work is unfair, that's why classing systems lead to trendwhores, because they want to please the judges. It ruins creativity.

It COULD ruin creativity, thats why it was said a diverse judging crew can help. This wouldn't ruin creativity more than getting rejected for a crew or CnC in showcase..it's pretty much a mix of the two.

I'd be for it if it was done well and honestly.
In alot of places it just seems to have corrupted people's egos, but if a good job was done I'd like to see it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Take your view.

Checking auctions and how people sell sigs, it's not just in the eye of the beholder xP though I do agree the main creator may like it more.

    exactly

maybe it would be better if the panel of judges who classed people rotated on a weekly/monthly basis?

You'd also get dickheads that are registered at other sites like ENESELLE who are ranked say INTAH, but get rated MAWD here and go and explode.

Sorry for bypassing the word filters, its just for clarity.

For christ sake there is a line between signature and art.

Also classing is not about rating art, it's more like rating skill.

No, this forum is alive in the aspect of being a lively commuinity that likes to have fun, lets not have everyone saying we are like the NSL because we aren't. Sure we make tags, but i think a lot of us just do it for fun. NSL is based off of competition, GR should stay the way it is, based on liveliness and fun.

Besides, this system would neglect those who dont make sigs here, like Morv lawl.

It's still a form of expression to most, which would classify it as art in my opinion. Remember my friend, art is a very, very general statement, and what may be art to some may not be to others. That was the point of my first post I believe.
