PS3, HD DVD, Backwards compatible, free online gaming, no HD add on charge, and not as many buttons on the controller.

PS3 is a solid console it will take some time to show its true colors but will sure overcome xbox 360.......cause its easy to develop games on xbox 360
ps3 has new tech so it will take some time for game developers to develop a perfect engine for it

    ehh...

last time I checked, the PS3 had a much SIMPLER GPU.
and the CPU of the xbox 360 is hardly even beign utilized past 50% in most cases.

I see an increase in thread level parallelism before I see Cell being used well in games. Cell was designed more for medical research not gaming.

Not happy with your PC? Install Linux on your PS3 and use it as your new PC, with an 8 core processor, in the cell broadband engine, you can compute processes in a fraction of the time your PC can, even if it is dual-core. This is, not to mention, that your video card in the PS3 is a 512 equivalent, specially made video card, supporting directx 10, something not even the 360 can boast.
Cell has ONE core. It is basically a very simple design - one generalized, but low performance processor and 8 simple coprocessors which help accelerate certain applications
so while Cell is capable of executing up t 10 threads... you fail to factor in the following: 1 of the SPEs is disabled, the thread level performance on each SPE sucks, technically the design is compeltely monolithic and each part of cell is more accurately described as being a modularization of a single processor as opposed to a separate processor on it's own....

basically Cell is not suited for general use. It's not suited for gaming.

want to calculate pi to a trillion digits? great, then Cell is for you. Want to run linux and use it as a general use CPU? expect performance WORSE than that of a 5 year old single core desktop processor.

cell is very very very specialized. It's not an end all solution. If it were, Intel and AMD would both be bankrupt by now.

Yeah, i would go with 360 mainly because everything that PS3 has coming out on its system has been made for the 360 anyways. Their both good but i would pull towards the 360 more than the PS3.

Personally, I love Xbox. I'm not going to lie, I've never played the PS3 in depth, but I still think the best game available right now is still Gears of War, and the titles are really good. I really don't mind that I can get COD4 or Assasin's Creed on the PS3 as well, the Xbox interface is just the best.

I would say go for the Xbox 360 just because of the games that it already has and the awesome Live play cause lets face it PS3 doesnt have the best games out and 2 games your waiting for arent going to do much in their market so those will be like the only 2 good games out there also there is basically no ps3 online well there is but no where near the same amount of people as xbox live

The red lights are caused by overheating, basically just put the console and the power supply someplace where they can get a crapload of air(like infront of an open door). I could have bought a ps3, but it wasn't out at the time I had enough money, I'd say xbox 360 mainly because of the amount of games out right now and better online play/features.

360 for sure, 90% Will say the 360, and the rest are either related with sony, a sibling has it, or never tried a 360.

    =)

BTW: Red ring of death can be fixed without sending it bacl to microsoft...
