Yea there definitely is a possibility of people getting big headed, but when that starts to take control or get out of hand you can either deal with those members individually or just get rid of the ranking system....which is why a trial run would be nice.

Critique shouldn't have anything to do with it. It really shouldn't matter what style the judges use, or if they tag at all... It should be whether or not they know a good tag from a bad one...

Yea so therefore critique has all to do with it. If you have someone who gives crappy critique, you do not want them to be a judge, which is in turn an honest critiquer. Sorry I guess I should have used smart rather than honesty.

Actually style can have a lot do with it. If the judges all use the same style in tag making, there is no doubt they will always lean towards that style more, because to them that is the best style, which in turn means the best tag, which is definitely not always true.

Definatly yes imo, classing is fun and it's a good way to motivqate people to impove, and anyone who doesn't beive in classing can simply not get classed.

If all the judges are completely unbiased and unpartial then there really shouldn't be any issues. Choosing judges from each style seems really unnecessary to me.

You've got me on the first point >>.

    meh. why not.

but you need a good post limit. like, 30. or else theres no way you'll keep up with the requests.

btw, SCENE, since when do totally unbiased and unpartial people exist?

I've always seen classing as completely arbitrary, but I wouldn't mind it as long as there was no part of the board that required being classed in order to access.

like, there needs to be non-descriminatory board rules in place so that people who choose not to be classed can not be required to in order to take part in any board activities.

Though, to go with what you say tiki, would you care if there was different parts to showcase like ----showcase,------, or however it works then people can sort the sigs they look at like this, but you can reply to any topic in it so you get CnC from everyone.

I'm opposed to seperate showcases only because they don't make any sense unless you have posting limitations in place. think about it.

the most a classing system would do is help in battle's where at least you can get a rough (very rough) sense of what you're up against.

So you want to stride to be a better artist in someone else's eyes?

Art is not work. Art is an expression, and can only be present when there is leisure, the opposite of work.

I mean c'mon, goes back to the ancient civilizations: if times were tough, more working was going on and no art or literature, but if times were good, art thrived.

So why would you want to work harder? You would only work harder to meet someone else's expectations....

Art shouldn't be judged by other people, it is only meant to be judged by the creator. Classifications would only lead to discrimination on this board between classes and promote more copying of a certain style when it is considered "in" or "cool". There is already enough whoring around here.. this would only make it worse.
