I dont really get how they can actually call it an addiction. People spend over 8 hours a day at their job, are they addicted to money? No, just because you enjoy doing something doesn't make it an addiction if you spend alot of time doing it. Who is to say that spending more then 2 hours a day is too much? People do other things in even more excess and its not evem considered close to addiction. You can say, Oh well work benefits you in that you get money and what not, but does the internet not benefit you in that its fun and you potentially even earn money using it? Wow, i sound like a serious "Addict" there haha, but i have found myself barely using the computer for more then an hour a day unless im working on homework, i just really feel like its dumb that people are worrying about the "internet addicts" when theres people i know who were perfectly normal a couple years ago but now they spend almost every dollar they earn on coke and smokes but we still have people worrying about these people who aren't necessarily hurting themselves in a huge way, nowhere near as much as some other real addicts.
not being racist, but it doesnt surprise me that asia is the first country to diagnose kids with internet addiction. too much porn there kiddies.
You are talking about Korea, which is one of the top countries who are insanely competitive in anything related to Video Games. It's kind of surprising they have a Boot Camp for people who are addicted to video games, never imagined something like a Boot Camp. Surprising the government started to do something about it, even making hospitals and investing money on treatment. The word addiction is being interpretative incorrectly, if you have an addiction you are to despite harmful consequences to the individual's health, mental state or social life. Think about it: Is their anything good on playing video games 24/7 or more than 5 hours? Their is no benefit on doing it, unless you could get paid or take it as a work. Now days you can become an addict to anything, but at the end it despites harmful consequences on your life.
id say im addicted to the internet, half the stuff i do on my pc revolves around it GR forums being one Theres a difference about self control though, if you cant just get up and walk away from your computer, after being staring at it for 4+ hours, then you have problems I like to take breaks every 1.5-2 hours, as i get tired and start feeling a bit sick (more then less during wow raids :x)
I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but I do spend a considerable amount of time on the computer. I just need to find a new hobby.
I should really live there, I have such a bad internet addiction. It's mainly gaming and render attaining and tutorials, but I'm still on it everyday. It's a great feeling lol.
I saw this on TV once, it's absolutely insane that someone could neglect themselves as humans in order to play games.
