So basically I can't plug anything into my computer at all. None of the USB ports work, and the other plugs like where your speakers would plug into don't work. My mouse + keyboard plugs work fine.

Any suggestions other than buy a new computer? I'll be taking it in if I can't get and success through this.

is it just rejecting the things you plug in like making a noise but not recognizing the hardware or does it just do nothing when you plug things in since your speakers dont work either im guessing something inside your computer got unplugged

What operating system are you using? If its XP SP2 or later, I doubt it'll be a driver issue, as USB 2.0 support is built into Windows.

Are all the USB ports failing? Or are the ones at the back working, but the ones at the front failing. Because it may be that the USB connectors have come lose on the motherboard.

I'd recommend reinstalling your motherboard chipset drivers, and soundcard drivers.

Did you have any issues with blue-screens or anything before they stopped working?

    Thanks for everything guys...

Every USB port isn't working, front and back + the speaker outlet. Thats all that isn't working I guess.

With the speakers I don't get any sound at all, no fuzz.

I'm not sure which OS I'm using anywhere after XP, Inverse. How would I go about re-installing the motherboard?

Reinstall the software? Or get a new motherboard and put it in? If it's the software, find the disc that came with your motherboard if you can. If you can't find the disc, find the model of your motherboard. If you can't find the box your motherboard came in, open up your PC case and look at your motherboard. If you don't have a motherboard, well, then there's your problem.

If you're going to buy a new motherboard, then just do some research and see what can maximize your PCs performance.

If you go into control panel, then select "System" it'll tell you if you've got SP2 installed. But even previous editions of Windows have at least USB 1.0 native support, so whether or not you have drivers installed or working, they should still work.

If you can give me the model name of your motherboard, I can find a link to download the chipset drivers. If you want to find out, download this: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
    and it'll tell you.

EDIT: Also, if you're computer is relatively old, buying a new motherboard is probably not an option.

Ok, well that means unless you have chipset drivers intalled, your USB ports might not be running USB 2.0, which may or may not cause compatibility issues. Wouldn't account for the entirety of the problem, but we might as well try rule that out.
