I just fixed my sister's laptop, after crashing before it even made it to the login screen. It works perfectly fine if the power cable is plugged in, but if it gets moved the slightest bit it could get unplugged and shut down the laptop. Now, we got a new battery for it, but it doesn't seem to get charged. Do you think its a problem with the power cord, like maybe there is a problem with the charge cable? Or is it something to do with the battery connectors? I would take it down to our campus computer repair place, but I don't know if they would be able to do anything about... Or even know what is wrong with it. (But it is free)

The only reason I want it to be fixed, is because it would be nice to have a laptop for myself; seeing as I am too poor to buy my own. (Even though its not much)

Take it to the campus computer repair place. They can have it in hand and this is a hands on issue. I doubt anyone on here could touch up on it more than you have without having it in their hands, sorry mate.

Thats what I thought, but its a new battery... I wish I was at home, I'd be able to try other cords and the old battery... Because the reason they got the new battery was because Windows would shut itself down before logging in, and I fixed that so I should have tried the other battery before I left again.

I think I will go down to the computer repair center here and see if they have any input... Chances are they won't so I'll have to wait till I go home to see if its a problem with the battery or cord.

might as well try the repair place.
If the battery was from some no name brand company than its probably the battery,
however, I would say its probably the cord

its probably the connectors to the battery because it seems like as long as it gets direct power its fine but once you go to battery it cant find the power bring it to a repair place so you dont void the warranty unless its already void then rip it open and find out whats going on

Is it running XP or Vista? This is a bit of a longshot, but it may be worth checking what power options are set to. It may be that running from the battery has somehow been turned off. However, it is a long-shot.
