Ok, i got £200 and i want a card that will last. the rest of my computers good with good memory etc but i know my current graphics card isn't too great. If somebody could find me a bargain or even just something worthwhile then thanks.
I play LOTRO atm and wonna be able to play lag free with good graphics. Atm i have a GeForce 7300 GS. Also id prefer if it was a nVidea card as ive always used them and trust em.
Hopefully they aren't too hard to install
    +rep for whoever helps :)

8800GTS and HD3870 are the cards to get in your price range. both are about the same bang/$.

and I've said this before and I'll say it again. Screw consumer loyalty, both are monopolistic giants. They both use largely the same plants and half the engineers in one company have been at the other. Preferring ATi over nVidia or nVidia over ATi is a sure fire way to get ripped off 50% of the time(generally speaking, and this applies to most of everything FYI)

OMFG another useless stupid gay thread.

"OMFG NVIDIA RULEZZZ" "ATI MAKE CARDS THAT BLOW UP IF YOU PLAY GAMES ON MAX" "ONLY NVIDIA CARDS SUPPORT DX10" "YOU HAVE TO BUY A AMD CPU IF YOU WANNA USE A ATI CARD OR UR PARENTS DIE"

FFS. There's already about 2 threads in this forum that ask this exact same ------ing question. holy ----, man.

Number 1, Thanks for the useful reply [/sarcasm] . However im from England and in the other threads everyone gave links to newegg.com... which dont ship to the UK.
Number 2, Does it really annoy you that much? Does it really do any damage to you whatsoever? Are you really THAT pathetic?

+ Thanks xlink, however i am not sure of any good computer part sites to go on which deliver to the UK. If you know any then could you post it please. Thanks ^_^

It's not about the links. Its about the cards. Look in those threads, look at what cards people recommended, and then look for those cards in England based stores. Its not that hard to figure out.

Why start a thread which has the exact same question, and will get the exact same answers as 2 others which were created recently.

IMO you should either get 8800gt if you only need DX10 or get the new ATI ones 38xx something whih support Dx10.1 But also you could wait and get some more money and go straight for a 9800 which will be ULTIMATE!!!!!

What? posiden, if you dont know anything about video cards, dont start making incorrect statements about them.

Each card is different, even if they're made by ATi. Making general statements about the brands performance and apparent "problems" shows just what a total idiot you are.

ALL video cards run on "seperate memory", you douche-bag. And in this situation, ATi is the poorer choice.

DX 10.1 is DX10 with some optional specifications made necessary. To be honest DX10.1 cards in terms of rendering capacity don't have much over the 2900s and 8800s

    as for European stores,
    dabs.co.uk
    overclockers.co.uk

    and some other places.
a good guy to ask is .devestation and another, Darkstar.

Also, inverse, chillax a little, noone is TRYING to be stupid. We know the answer, we've posted it before, but people come here asking for help wanting individual attention. I'll also be blunt, when you cross borders, often prices are swapped around a bit. I recall recomending an 8600 over a 7900 or x1950 to someone in europe once simply due to pricing. Things change, tax laws are different etc. Recall when you recommended the silverstone STF? In america, we could get the identical enhance ENP for around 30% less.

I don't think either of you should have -repped each other, but what's done is done. Inverse, I have nothing against you, though if asked, I'd say your revenge rep is intrinsically unfair.

nVidia and ATi both offer cards which page to the main system memory. It's predominantly an issue with lowend cards. A lowend card form either side will disapoint. My 800GTS 640mb even pages to main system memory, just only during times of memory deficiency

Yes, but I reserve the right to do so.

After talking to many people who live in Europe and deal with European prices, the differences are usually insignificant.

I was in OCNZ mode (overclockers NZ, a NZ based hardware elitist forum) when I wrote that post. I cannot get used to the fact that people would rather hassle members with threads asking for individual help, when there are many existing threads a click away, which answer the questions they ask. People who don't show initiative to find their own solutions to their problems, don't really have any right to ask others to do so for them.

If people ask legitimate questions, that are actually unique to their situation, and aren't answered in the top 50 hits of a google search, I'm more than happy to give them a straight answer...

This sh*t, however, really grinds my gears...

wait for the nvidia 9 series it will be out soon if it isnt already, then get one of those and youll be good for a while.

inverse you dont need to flame people who ask for help, not everyone is really computer literate, and even if they are to a degree want some outside opinions from time to time.

Whether or not people are PC literate they should still be able to read other threads and make their judgements based on them. Thanks for the neg rep btw. You're lucky I'm in a good mood or I'd hit you back.

    Seriously.

And I somehow doubt that waiting for the nine series is a good idea, because if it plays out anything like the 8 series release, he wont be able to afford it by quite a bit.

    haha revenge reps seriously ..

£200 would get you the HD3870 for around £150 from overclockers which ive ordered - wanted a change compared to nvidia this time since 3870 is quite superior to 8600 but lacks to the 8800 however for the price its worth it since 8800 are around double the price

    £158 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....=56&subcat= - im sure you can get say a £10 from parents ;)
    £164 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....=56&subcat= - one im getting even though the same :D

if it grinds your gears .. dont post useless junk that doesnt help the thread whatsoever.. each member is different doesnt matter how literate you are - let them post and we answer simple as that - out of like 5 posts none were helpful
