Thanks for the support on the idea and suggestions to go along with it...turning this into a flamewar is pointless. I just noticed a lot of talk about GR dying off...and GR lacking activity and I just thought this would be a good way to do so. It seems to taken well by most of the people who posted...but its 110% up the staff for the final word. And if this is given a trial run...it'll take a lot of cooperation from the community to help everything go smoothly...so if it gets implemented...I think the 'omgz Im not a nov im ---' threads should=insta-ban...

Also in the beginning stages you'll have every active member here + the new ones wanting to be classed ASAP...Although itll only take 5 minutes if that to C&C+post your vote for classing...they will be TONS of members...so itll be extremely hard and strenuous on those doing the classing as well.

And C1...what hes trying to say is...that if a group of people told you were on a ------ level...wouldn't you want to strive to become better? Competition doesn't have to be about 'winning' or 'beating' someone...it can be a 'competition' within yourself to reach a goal...

Yea, but there are definitely some good members here on GR that would definitely take the time they had to do the classing, there is no doubt about that.

The only way this would remain fair is if we managed to change the judges on a weekly basis without giving notice, the signatures are posted, the judges pm the mods, and the mods post the results of the votes, never allowing the public to know who the judges were. The risk of bribery is far too high, and you'd be amazed as to the lengths some people will go to get a good ranking.

Yea I didnt even think of that dem. The staff would have to pretty much elect the classifiers by themselves, in secret, not letting anyone know who they are.

no, but maybe thats just me,and lets break it down

------ and Moderate is, alright your tags suck tbh,

-----, Your tags are okay, but nothing special about so w/e

----------, Some great tags there but something is still missing

---, Some amazing works or w/e (didnt know what to put)

then, in the marketplace you'll see topics like "--- Psd 1.5k+" "--- Tutorials"

and what are you gonna do restrict those topic titles, well it really wont matter because, people will know now what other people are ranked, thru a topic search.

Why would people buy other people work when they can just buy from the best, thats what is was liked before when the words werent censored?

Love the idea dem....but what if...

"Getting Classed" threads were done exactly like the staff applications...where only the staff can see them...can this be done for this? Also having a set staff...or a group of 30+ people willing to do it to be rotated in and out...and just not give these people any special recognition...title/staff/etc..kind of a 'secret service'? And maybe introduce one overhead mod of classing to post the final class and maybe C&C?

As far as buying/selling work...what is there was a cap limit for this...

    ------ tuts/psds 5-50creds
    Moderate tuts/psds 51-150creds
    ----- tuts/psds 151-300 creds
    ------ tuts/psds 301-500
    --- 500+

And not to say..."Hey...your work is only worth so much" but to keep a limit...and not many people are gonna be able to drop 500creds on a single tutorial/psd...and if they do...they wont have creds for long.
I also think that creating a min/max cap...could create a need for creds again...knowing I was stuck at ------...and needed to spend at least 500creds to catch a glimpse of a --- rated tag/tutorial...would make me get my ass in gear to make some creds...

What about those that hang around on this forum for reasons beyond making sup3r ------ t4gs....
    Will they go unrecognized?
I am a relatively new member but I still think that ranking people is not going to help them further their skills.
A good point that has been raised is that the majority of the inhabitants of this great community are 16yr old males, including myself.
To tell you the truth power goes not to their head but to where the keep that small measure of brainpower they retain through their teenage years (don't think i need to elaborate on this).
For this reason the judging is not the issue... the rankings themselves are the issue.
Of course people will look up to those that hold those godlike ranks, but inevitably the poor n00b is saddled with a big sign that says he sux...not exactly a good thing for a beginner....
This leads to those 16yr old males that think with their crotch (yes u do) to unconsciously favor those with higher rankings.
The only viable solution is for rankings to be private... therefore being solely for your self improvement.
This i feel is not what you are aiming to achieve, sadly i can not see anyway of ranking individual artists publicly without introducing bias into the forum.

Theres been some good points in here but i have always hated ranks personally and i for one will not go for this, not saying its not going to happen but anything like this will always have a no from me.

I personally don't see how this will better the forum and the members who frequent on here/and or get more members to join, it will just cause a lot of member on here to become bigger headed than some already are.

I like this idea, and as far as buying tags from --- members is concerned, well i just buy tags that i like the look of.. i really couldnt give a crap whether the maker was ranked --- or nov..

Just to contribute one thing for those people who always ask this:
    "how can you rank art?"

    You don't, you rank skill.

And again that's an arguable thing when you look at it another way..............
