    it looks very plain. All the effects seems to be in the background, and there aren't many of them there either. And thats kinda strange because the attention is supposedly to be directed at the character. Also, the text seems fairly plain as well. I would go with version 1, just because the smooth background fits in better. This is pretty good, but consider experimenting with effects, lighting, and blending.

    Could use some more effects on the foreground and blending.

    Pretty nice though.
