Well, I'm becoming pretty elite at posting problems here. I was wondering, is there an expiration date for inactivity or anything? The name Jack has two posts, and the last one, I think, was in April sometime. This confuses me, as why have a user with two posts inactive for that much time. I would quite like to use Jack on my display name - will I ever be able to?

no you cant, reason is if they did it for you, they have to do it for everyone, because a lot of people want inactive names

No. For the reasons stated above.
Also if that person ever does come back they should be able to have their same display name.

As a side note, generally if a user has not logged onto GR in over a year, and is not of Ruby or higher status, we will delete their account and give you their name. Jack may not be an active poster, but he was on GR within the last month, thus showing he is an active person. If you would like to get his name from him, you can PM him, and ask him for it, explain your reasoning, and if you both agree, an admin would be happy to do the name change for both of you.

Hmm, that's pretty good. I'll try and do that. Thanks for your advice everyone!
