Does anyone here have Vista? I'm thinking of upgrading my computer from Windows XP to Vista. Can anyone share there thoughts about Vista? Like it, or dislike it?

    I Just have one question?

Can I just purchase the upgrade version of Vista (Home Basic/Premium) instead of the full version if I already have Windows XP and my computer came "Vista-Ready"?

Or do I have to spend an extra 100$ for the full version instead of the upgrade.

    Oh, sorry and another question:

if I do upgrade my computer to Vista - does it terminate all my data? Or am I able to keep my files and stuff?

    Thanks.

    Forgot to Mention:

These are the following specs for my computer: (do you think it'll be enough for Vista)

250GB Storage Space (Around 198GB now, downloads, etc.)
    2GB RAM
    Pentium Viiv (2 Duo Processor)
    Windows XP (Vista-Ready)
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000
    All HP Hardware

For the first question, Vista is 'ok'. It's not an awsome amazing system, but it does have some nice features over XP like instant searching (exact same thing as spotlight for mac). But you should upgrade your RAM if you have anything under 1 Gig.

Yes, if you have a vista ready XP, you only need to buy an upgrade.

Don't really know the answer to the third one.

I agree, XP is also with me, I ran Ultimate for a few days and i didnt like it. It was just too fussy security wise. Everything i did it was like "CANCEL OR ALLOW?" And i just got sick of it =\ But i do love its flawless wireless speeds. Thats about the best thing. I just went back to XP today. Glad i did. But it may be better for you as im running on a laptop so it wont be great and some of your specs are better than mine.Give it a try, You dont know unless you try it. =]

you should eb fine w/ the upgrade disc.

as for the upgrade to vista. I don't know if it's be worth the money. I like vista. It's fast it's responsive.
I don't know if I'd pay for it though.

I think I'm going to try, what do you suggest - Home Basic or Home Premium?

Well, I'm thinking about getting it for the holidays. Hopefully parents or someone could buy it for me. And, maybe some holiday deals?

At the moment i wouldn't get Vista they have so many bugs they need to fix it in it right now and i'm having nothing but PROBLEMS with it. I would recommend getting the college addition when they release that cause they'll have most everything fixed when thats out.

Yeah I heard SP3 for XP is coming out soon and supposedly it has a performance increase. Which sounds pretty good to me right now and is making me think of downgrading.

Anyone who says Vista has bugs tons of bugs is lying.

I've been using Vista for 6 months now and I like it much much more than XP. I have had absolutely no compatibility issues, and have found no bugs that aren't the fault of the applications themselves.

Turn of User Account Control, you douche-bag.

actually vista does a have few random quirks to it, though they're mostly minor.

at least that's been my experience.
but it's superior memory management and other various features more than compensate IMO.

i tried vista for a little while, i found absolutely no benefits from the experience :/ ultimate is the only one thats close to being a working OS and then it still causes issues with half your programs, especially games T-T

All the games I have tried work fine. Even games such as Red Faction, BF1942, Quake 3 etc. And there's plenty of hotfixes out there which improve performance on the old games.
