Not specifically anywhere, but my home page is absolutepunk.net and just in the past month or so they've done a few charity shows and auctioned off gear/signed merch numerous times, with all the proceeds going to charity. Honestly, not a whole lot of bands really take advantage of the whole charity thing.

I'm going to sound like an idiot with no musical tastes saying this, but Hawthorne Heights is incredibly cool. I could really care less for their music... actually its trash. I guess they've even admitted that their music is by no means 'great' or 'incredible' and that they're just going to do what they love for as long as they can. But these guys are so nice. On tour this winter, they're including like 5 or 6 charities, and personally handing out pamphlets and fliers, as well as tossing money their way. Not just charities, but they really care for their fans. Hand print posters, free shows, hanging out by the merch booth after almost every show ... its just respectable.

Makes it hard for me to hate either of these bands.

Well, considering many bands have done so for years (minus the charity work), I don't see how it's different than any other local/underground band. I'm sure many underground bands would do that, but it's that their music isn't popular/won't be/they don't want it to be. Look at the DIY hardcore scene. Almost every band booked their own shows, made their own music, and they gave it away, devoted themselves to the fan...why? It's their culture.

Almost every time I go to a show either me and a few friends or some people I know hang out with the band members.

Yeah but the difference is that Hawthorne Heights is no longer an underground band, they've gone both gold and platinum. They really have no reason to spend their time chilling with fans, playing free shows, and all this other stuff that they do. They don't have to go out and hang by the merch booth anymore so that people will buy their record in order for them to get gas money to make it to the next show. They do it because they're down to earth guys who would rather make someone else's day than make their own lives easier.

If i had to make a decision for Best Album released This year by all genres it would be "The Killers - Sawdust" another album falling in a similar category would be by "The Strokes" called "First impressions of Earth" which was last year but I don't know it seems like this year :P. As far as mainstream hiphop/rap then def. rapper "Common" with his "Finding Forver" Great wordplay and all that good stuff, and another rappers album I liked was "Talib Kweli's" "Eardrum" album.

I find that this doesn't matter. Because, a rapper I know of named "Atmosphere" who is underground went platinum and is still considered "Underground", just a thought.

I don't know if the same goes for other music as well, :D

They need to learn to do something new, IMO. They keep sounding like the old 1980s hard rock that I've already heard over and over again.

I'm going to make a compilation list, soon.

    Oof?

Old post, but I thought I'd bring it up.
You can't honestly judge somebody for liking Fall Out Boy when you like Angels and Airwaves can you?

Suppose we'll mention some others. Linkin Park's was a terrible album, Meteora blows it WAY out of the water...
Was looking forward to InMes album actually, heard the first song they released...not looking forward anymore.

And finally. Avenged Sevenfol. Pop Metal plz. <3

Weed Eater - God Luck and Good Speed
    Hail!Hornet - Hail!Hornet
3 Inches of Blood - Fire Up the Blades

I can't say Album of the Year because there are so many good ones, but these three are some of my top faves. They rock.

    Timbaland - Shock Value

Has a mix of Hip/Hop, Rock, and just a new style. With appearances by Elton John, Dr. Dre, One Republic, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Fall Out Boy, and tons of more that I can't name off the top of my head.. One of the few CD's that I bought that I can honestly listen to the entire album.

I didn't even like Meteora... <_< Nor did I like Hybrid Theory. Meh.

In R&B this year, Musiq Soulchild's possibly has my favorite release this year. Quality stuff. Oh, and sometimes it's best to get the album anyways, despite the thoughts of their first song. Why? 1> Songs can have a different feel on the album and when the songs work together. 2> One song doesn't define a band.

I say check it out, it's gotten good reviews? <_<

For rock/metal (esp metal), going gold or platinum is pretty damn big. Many (almost every one I would guess) don't sell to gold.

Also, for "donating to charities..." that seems to be the "new" thing to do that makes bands "cool" or w/e. Donating mostly makes you seem good and w/e, but many do it because what they will donate makes up for in the publicity.

On another note, the Hawthorne Heights guitarist died yesterday (I think it was yesterday). I hated the band (REALLY BAD), but it sucks anytime someone dies :(
