Ok, I need a the best possible build for $500-$600. This will be what I get with the money I get for Christmas/Birthday. I really wanted a desktop this time instead of a laptop and so I decided it was best to build my own, seeing as how I have built a computer before, and done a lot of things to upgrade/repair a few laptops I think this would be the best way to go. So I don't have anything but a monitor. I really love Messing in photoshop, and camtasia. And I have probably 100 Gigs worth of movies and music that needs to be kept on the computer. A External hard drive would be ok as I could still use my laptop to play the movies. So its up to whoever post suggestion as to what I should do. Basic outlook: Be able to hold 100-200gigs of movies and music, and use camtasia and photoshop cs2. I do not play games so this shouldn't be a problem. But i would like a decent graphics card. Thanks in advance to whom ever replys Also why is this hard drive so high? Or is it just because its a HP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822332020
Well knowing Christmas is like a month away, (and due the fact, i'm not good at this, i'll let x "do his thing" ) prices change in a month. Sometimes for the good
athlon x2 3800+ $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103735 RAM $35 http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesforn...Nov3007lh15.pdf motherboard $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813138077 case $30 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119137 heatsink 35 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835887002 harddrive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822148138 powersuply http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-E5150GH and that leaves $150 for a decent video card like an x1950pro. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814131026 if you aren't buying for a month though... don't bother posting. nothing personal, but things change over time.
also, you could cheap out on the vid card and get a bit mroe in the CPUmotherbaord department. Core 2 is quite good.
Ok thanks, I have 1.6Ghz now, and i see the new build would have 2.0Ghz, thats nice. Also, would it be ok with the new computer to put windows vista on? I have windows vista now, and i also have window xp.
GHZ != performance. a 1.6Ghz Pentium 4 is less than 1/4th as powerful as a 2Ghz Athlon x2. It's only 1/5th as powerful as a 2.0Ghz Core 2 duo.
