Tony Hawk is a multi-millionaire and a marketing phenomena...and all these kids buy anything with his name on it or anything he endorses...Its a business to him...I promise he doesn't "do it as a hobby" anymore. I'm sure Tony Hawk still skates for fun... Also I agree that skating on public property, grinding rails is not good because it does damage to property. Ollying a 10 stair does no damage at all though. I understand why it's outlawed in places and that is fine. There is such thing as a skatepark. Right now I'm not even allowed to drive a car, you need to be 18. If you hang around with people that share the same activities as you, you'll probably meet a girl that likes skateboarding. There is a lot of skater girls out there. And Avril Lavigne, c'mon man. No one listens to that, and never did.

I think skateboarding itself is perfectly fine. Hell, I think it's more than perfectly fine, but that could be because I skate. It only gets illegal when we start breaking stuff and skating on private property. Public property is public, therefore I can skate it if I don't break it. Just like you can use it if you don't mess it up. Outlawing skateboarding is ridiculous. Are you going to outlaw riding a bike next? Seriously..
That, and it's really become a stereotype. Plus, I've see skateboarders grab cars as they pull from stop signs to get going, that's extremely dangerous, as well as an unfair liability.
