fromt he preliminary benchmarks I'm seeing however it won't be much in the desktop segment, just the server segment.

then again most of the benches have been sketchy ad I've heard from various people with contact to a few under NDA that the benches are way off.

It's a proven fact that Intel processors run at a lower temperature than AMD processors for longer periods of time. With that said, I decided to get a Intel Quad Core when I built my new PC and I've never been happier :>

    depends on the processor.

remember prescott and venice? don't think anyone in their right mind would've said that in that scenario.

also, brisbane runs cooler than conroe, atleast at moderate clocks.45w thermal disapation vs. 65W disapation and the die size on conroe is smaller so that even further compounds it.
then facter in the fact that kentsfield is just plan hot. OK it's nto as hot as smithsfield but still.

Wow, reading over this topic i feel like i've learned the whole history of AMD and Intel

I've had Intel Computers in the Past

but on my most recent build I chose to go AMD, i noticed a huge difference in it, especially while running programs that take up more memory like C4D or Photoshop

i guess i comes down to personal choice

well the generation of CPU mattes as well.

the fastest intel CPU in 1990 was a hell of a lot faster than the fastest AMD CPU. But in 2007 the slwoest CPU form AMD sure the hell beats that old 486.
